Why must you always assume the worst, you automatically think you love your dog more then me,

I wouldnt breed my boy if it was for what i thought was the wrong reasons.

and the reason people join forums is so they can learn, all i wanted to know is what members though the breed of my dog is by looking at pictures

can you please tell me what AMSTAFF is short for

no need to be so rude

    AMSTAFF - American Staffordshire Terrier
    SBT - Staffordshire Bull Terrier

    He's definitely not a SBT
Does not look like a pure Amstaff, but maybe
    Could be SBT X AMSTAFF
    AmstaffX ?X ?X anything really...
Didn't the person who sold you the pup tell you what breed you were buying?

If the dog is not registered with pedigree papers, then he is not pure. He looks like a Pittie or Amstaff(??)

We don't mean to be rude but there is a correct way to go about breeding dogs and that is to have a pure registered dog, join a controlling body, show or work the dog, do health checks ,temp tests etc and put the dog over OTHER pure registered dogs of the same breed who have also been health tested etc.
The wrong way is to have a dog with none of the above and put the dog to a neighbour or friends unregistered dog for nothing more than to have litter of puppies for monetary gain. These type of people who do this are known as backyard breeders which is a derogatory term for people who don't know what they are doing and who couldn't care less in going about things the "right" way.

No i dont think that i love my dog more than you love your dog.

but when ppl call their dogs "IT" or want to breed from them it sure doesn't seem that they have the best interest of their dog or for the breed in general in their heart.

What is your purpose for wanting to breed from an un-registered dog, that you don't know 100% of what breed he is???

    Hey Blu-Staff,

You have have a nice looking happy dog, I reckon he is a Amstaff X Bully.
I definitely wouldn't say he is a purebred, either way he looks like a cool dog.

You have done the right thing by joining the forum and asking questions, that is the only way to learn.

I also wanted to breed my non papered dog once but after looking into it realised its not a good idea. There are way too many dogs being bred to the amount of responsible owners.

If you have a look at classified sites such as Gumtree for instance you'll see a load of pups for sale and on the other hand you'll see a heap of unwanted free dogs as well. This sought of thing angers many dog lovers seeing so many unwanted dogs from irresponsible owners.

Many unwanted dogs end up at the pound, some get rehomed by dog rescue groups but a lot sadly get put to sleep.

Checkout the number dogs here looking for a new home.

There loads of these types of sites with countless dogs without homes.

Heres a couple of vids that might show you what happens to these unwanted pets.

Breeding your dog would just add to the problem, best to just keep him as your pet and leave the breeding up to the professionals.

    Well said Obie!

    Hi Blu-staff

People get very emotional about this issue because we love dogs and care very much about their welfare (that's not so say you don't though!). It's all about the big picture. Education is key, so if we can get one more person to understand why breeding should be left to the professionals then that's great. Before joining this forum I wouldn't have thought breeding pet dogs was bad but now I have seen the light lol.
