I just refer to mine as "the kids". "Are we taking the kids to the park?" "Where are the kids?" "Have the kids eaten?", etc.. I can't refer to them as "dogs". I find it derogatory. They are a part of our family and as such, they are akin to us. I even find it offensive to have to put a collar on them. I'd rather they wore necklaces instead!!! Now that's

This thread must have been on my mind today. This is what I posted on Facebook earlier today .....

I think I might be going a little bit potty. Spirit was just trotting around the house with a toy in her mouth & "woo wooing" .... I instantly said "Don't talk with your mouth full Darling" without even thinking .LOL

LOL ... We're not crazy ... just very discerning people. Trust me, I'd rather talk to dogs than people most days.

No, you're definitely not crazy. I refer to my 2 as the babies, cause they're still just puppies.

I treat my 2 like they are part of the family and I think my son is getting a little jealous. I cooked them savoury mince the other night and then made them some home made doggie biscuits, and he wanted to know why I wasn't making him any cookies. Told him it was because he wasn't cute and furry, well he's 16 so he's got the furry part down pat, but don't know about being cute..lol

    No way are you weird.

I refer to my cats and dogs as "the kids" and often when leaving the house call out "mummy loves you, be back soon".

What I cannot stand is when people say to you after hearing you talk about how much they are a part of your family "you really need to have some real children", now that gets my back up.

And when faced with this exact statement on so many occasions, over the years, I finally perfected the art of a quivering bottom lip, a furrowed brow & sometimes ...... a single tear running down my cheek. And they never said a word about me not having skin kids ever again.

I always refer to mine as 'the kids". People look at me strangely sometimes as if to say "you're a tad old to have kids"! LOL
The more people I meet, the more I like my dogs.
