Yes we just need to change the words on the terror dogs...
I live here. I eat strangers.
We're unlucky enough that our electricity meter is at the back of our house... and Energex is, of course, yet to move into the 21st century and start doing meter reading remotely, so we have endless trouble with 'estimated' bills, which are always about triple what our bills normally are. They used to let us read the meter ourselves, as long as they got to read the meter once every 12 months (which we normally scheduled with them for a nominal fee of around $20), but for some reason this is not standard practice anymore.
My gas bill usually has a date next meter read is due. If I'm smart I put a padlock on the gate about then... cos they don't read the instructions for each property here, they don't have time...
The electricity meter - I moved the gate on the side of the house so they have access without needing to go in the back yard. Took them a while to figure that out too but they've got the picture now.
Our meter is actually on the back of the house. Someone at some point (long before us) obviously thought it was a brilliant idea... It would take a lot of yard space away from the dogs, or very awkward fencing, in order to give Energex access... I'm holding out for them to get with the times, which apparently they are in Victoria??
yes - some companies are definitely getting meters that transmit the readings via the mobile network back to base. So if you have mobile phone coverage back there - then they ought to be able to rig up the data sender.
I think in SA - they are talking about giving over meters and meter readers to the electricity companies so that the supplier and poles and wires people don't have to be responsible for them or the dodgy old tech on them. I'd like that for my gas meter - which is down the back - where the meter reader - not only has a long way to go and no extra time to get there but they also have to race my dog there and back. And she's not always gentle.
If you have mobile coverage < right there is where you lost me
couple more variations on dog will eat you signs - they don't have aussie shepherds but the bernese mountain dog has similar look.
