I have a very sensitive nose. If my dogs are smelly, there is generally a reason. So far here are the reasons ive had stinking dogs:

    1. Ive just acquired it, its sick, and has infections on skin: apple cider vinegar in drinking water, and a spray myst of APC on coat. rubbed through. or instead of malyseb wash @ $20+ per bottle, same ingredient in smelly fanny wash products. so use that instead.
    2. They just gleefully rolled in something necrotic in the wild: swim in lake, hose off, malyseb alternative used as shampoo, with ACV rinse
    3. They've eaten something that's causing the odour. Wait 48hrs with the windows open.
    4. Go to vet, if my dog still stinks, there is generally something wrong.

yeast, UTI's, stomach upset have been the main causes of an increase in odour from any dog ive owned. Other than that, they dont smell bad.
I dont personally allow my dogs on any soft furnishings, sofa's, carpets etc. To prevent the hair problem really, but im sure that helps to keep odour down also.

I dont believe in bathing dogs. So no, i wouldnt be using any product on their skin/coat.

Bernie, What is APC? Around here it's "Australian Paving Co" and you need a brick saw to make a spray mist out of pavers - yuck.

MMM - I think your sister and brother have Teflon coated dogs - same as mine.

I sometimes feed mine sardines in olive oil - she's pretty keen on those. Does Max want to eat what ever you're eating - that might be another way to get his attention... ie you eat some (or pretend to) and then he eats some.
