^^ The media is very powerful and Governments know this. When we had the Vietnam War the media reported all the deaths, images of body bags flowed along with the blood of our young and through public opinion the war ended. In the current war on terror the media are given limited access because if the public was subjected to same information as they were provided during the Vietnam War then public opinion would turn dramatically.

You have people like Neil Mitchell (3AW) whom pushes his view and unfortunately a lot of people believe every word he says such is his influence on his listeners. Change the medias perception and you will change the people's. Governments have been dumbing down the population down for years.

Reality is not everyone is a clear thinker.

After reading the last few pages I stand by what I said all the more , PB owners are in complete denial and I couldn't help but laugh at the comments made in regard to German Shepherds and other large breeds, comparing their past history to that of the PB today. The fact is German Shepherds were bred to serve man ,they were bred for herding ! They were not bred to fight other dogs in pits, they were not bred to inflict as much damage as possible , they do not have a hair trigger going from calm disposition one minute to raging killing machine the next. Pit Bulls WERE bred to fight, DO inflict maximum damage when attacking and they can NEVER be trusted due to that hair trigger triggering them into action.

In regard to BSL, I do NOT support it but am as angry as hell that we now have Govts looking at BSL . The reality is we owners of EVERY other breed have YOU Pit Bull owners to thank for it !!

    You know what ?

My rirst reaction was to pounce and let rip,but not only would you not hear the words it would only serve to upset my own emotions , something a very good friend has taught me to see is not only not worth the angst , it will not make one shred of difference to an ignorant fool such as yourself.

We are not talking chalk and cheese here , we are talking vintage or cheddar.

If you believe that a GSC cannot do as much damage nor will be as inclined to be as an APBT , then what use are any words .

You have just brushed a very broad stoke against the owners of Amstaffs , Staffords,Bull Terriers and Bull breed owners in general.

    Dog Savvy ?

In such a sad,sad way you are amusing but certainly not worthy of debating.

Choppa, being a little over dramatic aren't you? In no way have I 'brushed a very broad stroke' against any other bull T breed , just the bastardized one known as Pit Bulls.

Have I missed something here or is there some confusion that pit bulls and Amstaffs are something completely separate??

DogSavvy you seem to be classing pits as vastly removed from all the other bull breeds...??

Were not British Bulldogs bred for the fighting pit?? Bull Terriers?? How many others?? Afghan Hounds traditionally hunted snow leopards. Do you think they weren't tenacious and aggressive killers?? Would anything less even consider tackling a snow leopard??

No dearest , you pretty much summed it up

Dogsavvy here seems to think that the 'Pit Bull' is removed from the other Bull Breeds.

And it will not matter that your lovely dogs were bred for hunting such a dangerous quarry , they are not a 'Pit Bull' , therefor they are 'safe'

Hugs Choppa. A funny story to lighten this thread:

My boss has a gorgeous pit bull puppy (they are not restricted in the ACT). She is the sweetest little thing. So he had her out for a walk, he being middle aged, somewhat "square", wearing shorts and sandals, glasses...

Little pup in her pink, flowered collar and lead that she always wears. Mental image in place?

Along walk a pair of ladies and one growls out of the corner of her mouth: "Typical male with a pit bull."

I simply cannot imgaine a less typical male and a pit bull...
