    ok now I'm confused. I was looking at user albums and now I need some stuff explained

    What's the difference between
    - English Bull Terrier (what I think of as a Pit Bull from the media, with the big nose)
    - Pit Bull (which looks more like a Staffy to me)
    - Staffy.

    Man, curse the internet and a light workload at work

    Hope this helps, you can go to www.ANKC.org.au under breeds, group 2 (terriers)
    But there is no pitbull there...
    Edit to say. Choppa would explain better than me and give a great understanding of this..

    There is quite a difference, yet quite a resemblence.

    Staffy;

    Bull Terrier;

    Pit Bull;

    Some Pit Bulls have cropped ears so their 'look' can vary slightly.

    I've answered the most suitable answer for me "Media experience"... not to offend anyone or there choice of prefered breed, but tbh i'm not interested in or bothered to research about any other breed of dog other than my fav breed SBT as i cant see the point of me having to learn about something that doesn't affect me or interest me.

    Hmm, well I like learning things about all animals, any breed, any species.
    I kind of need to know because my occupation demands that type of thing.
    The Pit Bull is a very miss-understood breed, and I think its good that people research them and learn that they arnt big, bad, scary and going to kill anything that moves.
    I think you could benefit from learning a thing or two about the breed. I mean, the Staffy is often seen as 'aggressive' and mistaken for a Pit Bull. You might find it interesting.
    I dont know, I like learning new things I suppose, its a personal choice.

    Hmmm I'm not quite sure I understand which answer to do in the poll (dumb brunette?) but here is my response...

    I only ever hear bad things about them from the media of course (couldn't expect anything less could we?) but in reality I think this breed is fine (though I haven't actually researched as such). Unless they are trained to be aggressive and have been poorly socialised etc. But this applies to any dog.

    I know many of my friends/family though would freak out at the mention of pitbulls!

    I think they are beautiful though - especially love the head on them

    Perhaps because at one point in time your dog was in fact known as "Pit & Bull Terrier " .

    Are you aware that in many places around the world,The Stafford comes under the umbrella of BSL as a Pit Bull ie ; restricted breed? Along with the Amstaff.

    I for one think you need to go and do some research on your own dogs history at the very least. Which will then lead you into the Pit Bull world anyway.

    Ignorance is never,ever an excuse.

    Not sure I'll have enough time right now to go right into this for you,but Aussie has put up a great set of pics to show the differences.

    I will put a link in here to a post I have written previously in regards to the dogs history ; http://www.dogforum.com.au/general-d...v-pitbull.html

    OK,I've just linked to the whole thread ,started by the ever so loverly Occy

    Shall try to come back later ( more homework lol) and put up a decent post for you

    But just as an aside ; its interesting that you should mention you thought APBT's were actually English Bull Terriers as the movie Babe-Pig In The City portrays the very same ,very wrong thing. They call the English Bull Terrier in that movie a Pit Bull ( APBT) . I never did get a response to my email to them....wonder why that is
