I agree with DH regarding the hoodie. It is offensive and it is detrimental to the cause. I also believe that the spiked and overly thick leather collars put on these types of dogs is detrimental to the cause.

Most bull breeds will never be teddy bears, but they are not monstors either and the reputation is assisted by the fact that there is a certain element inthe community who like to have a dog as an 'image' accessory. The crass slogans and the paraphenalia such as the collars I spoke of just add to that 'tough' image.

Remember guys, the public perception of these dogs is already bad. Bull breed owners should be doing everything in their power to alter that public perception.

Deerhound, apart from agreeing with you and Anne (on all counts), I must say I find this statement of yours re AF (Since when have you become a supporter of all the Bull breeds? It's not so long ago you were in favour of killing all pig dogs, most of which have at least some Bull blood in them.) very interesting indeed.

Aussie Floyd, One thing I cannot stand is a hypocrite !!!!

TBH I own & do wear that hoodie & i'm not ashamed of being the average joe blow who has a sense of humor.,& noooo bloody way am i a half witted yobbo unworthy of owning any dog. While wearing that hoodie in public i have not had any member of the public take offense to it, its quiet the opposite, ppl have actually understood its meaning....."shut up & stop bitching about sbts being aggressive or dangerous etc". To know the sbt breed whole heartily is to love one & those that have not had the pleasure of owing a sbt are missing out on a very special breed of dog that i would defend until i was blue in the face.

Yes I do have a sense of humour but I hate mindless aggression. The slogan was both narrow and aggressive. I also dislike the misuse of the good old fashioned word for fornication. It's a word much abused and over used by the inarticulate.

Given the subject of this topic it would have made more sense if the slogan had used the name Pit Bull. It would have been equally offensive but at least it wouldn't have been off topic.

I mentioned the words "causing a riot" in a humorous term, ( now i'm starting to think that others understand my sense of humor.

Yes that's true..i dont trust "pig dogs" regardless of its breeding, even if it has or hasn't got bull breed in it. IMO their are trained killers that i personally would not trust near my dog, my kids or myself.

So it's okay for you to feel that way about pig dogs but not okay for me , or others, to feel that way about pit bulls? Is this right AF?????
Also, to know the Rottweiler breed whole heartily is to love one & those that have not had the pleasure of owing a Rottweiler are missing out on a very special breed of dog that i would defend until i was blue in the face !!! AND I am sure EVERYONE feels EXACTLY the same for their beloved breed of dog be it German Shepherd, Wolfhound, Chihuahua or whatever!

Ok now I must admit, Deb, its not fair for you too say that about the Pig Dogs but then have a go at DogSavvy about her dislike for the PB.

So really you have no interest in this topic whatsoever. It's about Pit Bulls not Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

And for those who missed it first time around.

Some very passionate statements by someone who can't be bothered to research any breed other than their own.

Ok..to clear things up as it obvious to me that others dont understand what i’m trying to say.

I don’t have a problem with Dogsavvy & her dislike to certain breeds as I understand that we all are different & have different tastes etc., what I have a problem with is the way dogsavvy is against all pitbulls & their owners.... i’m sure that not all pitbulls are aggressive nor are all pitbull owners irresponsible & train their dogs to be aggressive & to attack etc...i'm sure that there are pitbull owners out there that genuinely care for the breed & breed for sound temperament, such as ChoppaChop & other 2 that I have met in person in the last few days at my local park.

As for me not having an interest in other breeds is a personal choice, but that doesn’t mean I support the BSL etc or the bagging by the media etc of other breeds or their responsible owners.

Now to my fear of “man made” pig dogs regardless of what breed or cross breeds they may be is that; they are breed & trained for the purpose to hunt & kill other animals. I don’t agree to any type of animal being trained to kill other animals as I think that is a cruel act that is done for mans enjoyment & entertainment.... I understand & respect the “circle of life” & that nature does what nature does, such as dogs chasing & killing small critters such as mice, rats, rabbits etc. Floyd on he’s own free will had chased & killed a mouse in our home during the night in which I didn’t reward him for killing a mouse. I’m not going to nor have I specifically trained him to hunt or kill any animal.

I do agree with what Anne is saying about those dreadful spiked collars & chunky chain collars that some owners put on their bull breeds, I find it is nothing more than “a status symbol” on the owners part to make themselves & their dogs look tough etc.

As a bull breed owner i fully understand the crap that other bull breed owners face regularly in regards to the negativity of having a so called“ killer breed” & I sympathize with them ..it annoys the crap out of me whenever Floyd & I are avoided by other dog owners out n about in public or when other non bull breed owners question my dogs temperament etc. I am after all only human & can take only so much negativity before I finally crack.

I bought a cat to kill mice and rats.
I encourage Roly to kill mice and rats.
There are irresponsible Beagle owners, there are irresponsible Kelpie owners, irresponsible JRT, Staffy, Borzoi, Greyhound, GSD, mutt and Daschund owners. EVERY breed has irresponsible breeders, not just the PB.
I agree Deb, I think the job Pig Dogs do is cruel, but its not the dog. We've discussed this before, the JRT was bred to kill small animals, as was the Pig Dog but on a larger scale.

    Hi MYF7...

I understand & respect your & farmers reasons for encouraging your dog & cat to kill mice rats etc, as i did grow up on a farm where vermin was out of control & over breeding etc & killing them off by poison or dogs or cats killing them was the thing to do to help control the numbers., i was just saying that it's not something i would do personally as i haven't got excess vermin troubles in my suburban home.

Yes i understand that there are irresponsible owners out their of all breeds. I know that certain breeds were originally bred for hunting, killing & fighting purposes, but that was a very long time ago & i think that we humans & the dogs have come a long way positively since those days & thank goodness for that
I do realize that there are those few horrible cruel owners out their that still use their dogs (of certain breeds) to participate in such cruel dog fights or blood sports such as hunting etc, but as we all know- not all dog owners are nasty horrible cruel people & i don't blame the responsible dog owners or their dogs for the bad reputation that the horrible cruel dog owners have caused.
