    Default Dog park

So went to the dog park for the first time today, and it was great. Was a bit hesitant at first as my boy hasn't had a whole lot of socialization, but I was happy with how he acted, hesitant but still willing to run around with the other dogs.

Funnily enough when we turned up the whole park was full of huskies (and one husky x GSD). They all got along just fine and my boy was so puffed afterwards he just sat at my feet waiting to go home

And of course the water trough was the main attraction

Great photos! Looks like they all had a great time That Husky X GSD is gorgeous though! Looks a bit like a wolf!

    Thanks

It was a great learning experience too. I always thought he was on the smaller side for a husky, but he seemed pretty on par with all the others. Also had a chat about his feeding habits, as I do worry a bit when he doesn't eat for a day or 2, but apparently that's fairly common.

Yeah I liked the GSD X too, can't remember how old he was but he was just a little bigger than the huskies, but really enjoyed playing with them.

How surprising that there would be that many Huskies there. Were they having a meet up or was it good timing for everyone?

Huskies play well together - they haven't got much feeling because of all that fur around the face and neck - so they can be a bit too rough for other kinds of dogs... ie it's no fun playing "bitey face" with a husky when it has heaps of fur there and your dog doesn't...

A few other breeds came in a bit later on, all the huskies kinda just stuck together, but they still ran around with the others. Was more about running around chasing than physical contact, which was good

Unless of course you've got a bulldog... took my little girl to the park the other day and a dog played 'bitey face' with her and she just walked off leaving her cheek in its mouth because with all her wrinkles she can walk a mile before the cheek stops stretching.. it was hilarious the other dog didn't know what was happening.

It always amazes me how some breeds stick together.............We do water training with all breeds and the newfies always stick together, even when they have never met before.

Went back again today, only 1 husky this time, but a whole range of other breeds from little toebiters to a mastiff. Funnily enough all the larger dogs just avoided the little dogs and kept to themselves. My boy still has to learn that if you start running, everyone else is gonna start chasing after you

Unfortunately though there are some people that kinda just throw their dogs in then stand there on the phone not paying attention, was a lab in there trying to hump every dog it came across and the owner was standing outside the fence on her phone while the other dogs owner was pushing her dog off .. sad.
