    Default "Strange" dog food addictions

Ever since I got my boy at 12 weeks old, he's looovveedd apple cores. If he could hear you eating one, he'd come over, sit and wait until you'd finished hoping to get the core. I know apple seeds are toxic, but I don't give him excessive amounts. Just found it weird that he seems to love them so much - but then at least I know he's getting some fruit too.

Do your dogs have any "odd" food addictions (fruit or veges for example?)

My dog is over the top excited by promite on toast...

    Probably cos I eat it.

She likes most fruit and veg including chilli but draws the line at citrus.

I'm not surprised about promite. dogs love salty food. Salt is bad for them though, hence why they shouldn't eat cat food.

My dog is pretty silly. He has tried to steal many strange foods from the bench.

bean sprouts and brussel sprouts were certainly a surprise.

He eats the ends of the celery when I'm cooking. I make sure I remove the leaves though because they are very high in vitamin A which is toxic to dogs.

And he loves carrots but that's no surprise.

Had a cat once who loved cheese not so strange. But he would shred the box to get to liquorice.. Totally passionate about it. My sister loved the stuff and had to be really careful where she kept it.

Nero goes crazy for tofu and broccoli. Rox doesn't even recognise it as food...

What's odd about my boy is he only seems to like the cores - I've given him whole apples in the past and he just looks at you like "what am I meant to do with this??"

Cheese seems to be pretty popular with dogs. Promite/vegemite, tofu and licorice are odd ones though

I've heard of people using licorice as dog treats. Personally I can't stand the smell so it never enters my house and I cannot enter a Darryl Lea shop...

My dog likes apple but not apple peel. So I reckon if you peeled the apple - your dog would eat it.
