She's in there for 2-3 hours at a time.
I think this is ok. Most puppies will sleep all day if you're not there to entertain them. That's the ones that know not to chew everything.

I think a five month old should be able to hold on for 3 hours or so. It's a bit much to ask a 3 month old puppy to hang on all day while a person is at work but it does confine the mess and destruction.

As long as the puppy gets a good walk - five months x five minutes - a 25 minute walk (in one session) is ok - 30 mins at 6 months old etc... And plenty of short play sessions. remember to take the puppy outside for toilet as soon as you get home, or wake the puppy up, before and after play or dinner...

2 to 3 hours should be fine. Your dog might even be looking at it as a good time out away from the young kids too.

Leave a radio or tv on if you think your pooch might be getting a bit bored.

    Good luck

Kay123, as long as your pup is getting adequate mental and physical stimulation as well as access to water then you can crate train as you need to. It doesn't sounds like your crating time is unreasonable. Do you give her toys to keep her stimulated while in there?
