    Default Arghh rat poison AGAIN!!

I went into work this afternoon to catch up on a couple of things. My OH brought Maggie and was doing a couple of jobs for me.
About ten minutes later I see Maggie prancing along with a white box which on closer investigation had two blocks of mouse bait inside.
I wasn't sure if there had been three or even four so rang the vet ( after hours of course, again) The duty vet suggested washing soda crystals to induce vomiting but I asked for a meeting at the surgery. He met me there 15 minutes later and several vomits later we established she actually hadn't got any. I then prepared myself for a $200 or $300 bill and the blessed man ( a border collie fan) took $50 cash and called it quits. I am very grateful both because she is fine but also I can eat next week..lol

After the last episode I have been paranoid and just as well as at least this time while unpleasant it was all over within an hour.
    I HATE BAITS!!!!!

glad maggies is fine, and you saved yourself heaps. I once had a dog that would eat nasty things. Soap bars were a fave! the soda crystals got a work out with that dog for sure!

I wasn't sure they would work having no experience so played it safe with the vet.

washing soda crystals - tricky. But much cheaper than the morphine based vomit inducer and antidote...

As long as they're fairly sure it wasn't something spikey like fish hooks - the vomit treatment is good in these situations. Much cheaper than stomach surgery for things like swallowed footballers' strapping tape.
