Thread: The head tilt

  1. #1

    Default The head tilt

We have a 6 month old red and tan female Kelpie. Ever since we got her a 8 weeks, when speak to her she tilts her head. Its very cute & we love it!
I was just curious whether anyone elses dogs do this also & is there a reason why some dogs do this & other don't?
I see it as the way she listens to us

well, i guess its there way of trying to work out what you mean and a way of showing they listened.
guess some dogs just dont respond like others.
but dont mean there not listening

heres an aussie shep head tilting for a laugh

Both my Kelpie and my Aussie do the head tilt
Dodge, my Kelpie does it ALL the time! If you've got food, if you speak in a high pitched voice, if she hears a weird sound, or even if she simply wants attention
Koda, my Aussie doesn't do the head tilt quite as often, he will usually only do it if he hears a strange noise. If i make a high pitched squealing sound, he will instantly start tilting his head, its adorable He used to do it a lot more often when he was under a year old, but Dodge still does it all the time

Hooch does it all the time, he is trying desperately to understand what we are saying to him.
He also does it if he hears his name followed by - he knows it's about him and he wants to know what is being said.
So cute!! We sometimes do it on purpose...

my dog only head tilts when I say something to her she doesn't understand - and she thinks there is a treat for getting it right. would be cute to get on cue but so far - haven't.

My rotti x pohm, never head tilts, neither have any of my previous rotties.
My GSD doesnt either. But as pup would. These days he just shoves out random behaviours trying to work out what the heck i want now lol?
and Brian, would fall over if he tilted that head! (mastiff)

Lol I love it when they head tilt. Harley will do it sometimes and I am not sure I have ever seen Bella do it

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.

Mags doesn't head tilt it is her hydraulic ears that do the talking and the listening.
