Default Ageing dog. Horny pups and When do they lose their position of top dog?

I have 3 dogs. a 6yr old GSD male, a 2yr old desexed bitch, and a 1yr old entire male.
I have noticed that as the bitch is mainly crated. There relationship between the lads has been changing.
The young pup, is asserting himself more and more, barging to get places first, stealing items from older dog and not giving them back.
and now, a weird sorta challenge thing.
Bernie the GSD has always been a little edgy on having people touch his back end, or when pups lay down on his bed, up the head end is fine, but if they get too close to back end, he'll tell them off, or he'd move them when they were smaller.

Brian the entire 1yr old, has taken to deliberately, laying down on bernie's rug, behind bernie. For this, he gets told off. Verbally by bernie, but that's it, he doesnt back it up, so when Brian ignores the verbal warning, bernie gets up and lets him have his rug.

Bernie is a tad over the hill. Has been on moderation management for past year with tear to CL. So NOT as fit as brian. Slower to get up, but once up, behaves like a pup once more. But he is definitely no longer in his prime of life.
For the past 6 weeks, the bitch has been crated most of time. She pretty much rule the roost here on who owns the sunniest spot, juiciest bone, best bed etc. But has not had much access to Brian yet. She will take it as far as is necessary to reassert herself, in a way only bitches can. They can be evil at times!
Brian is not strong willed enough to take her on. But i see Bernie deferring to Brian more and more over last few weeks.

Bernie now gets to wait for brian to enter door first.
Bernie now gets to get off his rug on command from Brian
As soon as the girl pohm is out of her crate, Brian claims that as his too and has to have a go. He gets away with this, coz Pohm is focused on being OUT yeah!

Is there anything i should be doing, to ease the transition of who is top dog between Brian and Bernie? I dont want a fight on my hands.
They have taken to turn taking, for give/receive a nice long cleaning of penis/balls. What is this about? Just grooming each other? with location of mouths being co incidental? Bernie humped Brian yesterday. And must of gotten a little too close to anus, as Brian suddenly jumped out of the way of penetration. But then just stood still.

It seems that at first Brian would stand near where Bernie is led, and waits. Bernie then cleans his genitals thoroughly, and its generally me that stops this, as Brian's knot can come out, and its rather gross and cant be missed! (this dog is very well endowed and, er visual)
This has progressed to Brian standing, and Bernie being called by Brian in some silent way, so that Bernie gets up and walks toward him to clean him/pay service.

Im torn between gay dogs, will be gay dogs. And jesus christ, im trying to eat here guys! get a room. If we have elderly visitors, i prevent it.

Would Brian having his nads off, help do you think? Im saving at moment for op. Will be having him done at 18months. Brian's piss is very funky strong smelling, which will be helped by op. according to info ive read. (checked, no UTI, just funky smelling)

Its been so long since ive had a dog castrated, i cant remember what it changes and what it wont?

I just want less sexual dogs basically! A bj observation session is one thing, a NOISY bj observation just takes it to a whole new level according to my stomach and guests.

Sean, have you noticed any difference in Bronx and Mojos relationship since mojo's op? though maybe a bit too early yet.

With my males it very much lessened although has not entirely stopped the competition and increasing aggression between them. My situation was two simliar aged and sized dogs fighting for the top spot. The outcome was not going to be pretty so I castrated them both at 20 months and things have been much more peaceful although I still need to keep my eye on them.

    LOL

Man, your post had me intrigued, laughing, cringing....and grossed out too. Brilliant !!

To be honest there has been no difference with either goof as of yet. Bronxy's baggy bits kinda dissapeared but he was alot younger than Mojo when he got done. The vet said because of Mojos age his bag might 'hang around'...get it ? get it ? LOL.

Bronx has humped Mojo once or twice but i put a end to it VERY quickly !! As for the self grooming buit, well Mojo has woken me up a few times but with a head like his nothing is done gently or quietly ...and to be honest i cant blame him...Heck if i could reach i'd be just as bad !!

But so far nothing has really changed with either of them after getting the chop. Nothing i've noticed yet anyway. I cant help your with your guys cleaning (BJ) each other....kinda wierd hey ?? My guys dont do that at all ! (Thank dog..not sure how i'd handle that ha ha..)

Good luck mate. One way of thinking is ...desexing pays for itself after a few years, well in QLD anyway because it's like $50 a year cheaper for rego of a deknackered dog.

Wow Bernie there's never a dull moment at your house is there!

like Sean, I laughed, then cringed, then laughed again. Laughed mostly because it's not my dogs

Sorry I'm not being helpful at all, don't have a clue, just wanted to lend my support (and chuckle at your expense)

lol i guess it would be funny if reading, rather than experiencing.
Im off to vet at 8.30 to discuss fee's time to book in etc. I have no idea how much the chop is? I figure $200? $300?
I have to weigh Brian again, so have been popping in weekly, to get him accustomed to vet and shiny floor. (why oh why do vets have this flooring) Brian is my 2nd dog that doesnt like them. (which is why i end up with them, coz my floors are never shiny lol)

I'm a bit speechless.... But finding quite a few giggles...

I presume that the mutual "cleaning" stuff is actually unlikely to be sexually driven, rather just a grooming/interaction thing. Especially since your older boy is desexed...

Yes the youngster's pee will smell far less after desexing. I'm wondering if the mutual cleaning thing might just ease up after desexing, as the young boy will no longer get any arousal from it, and as his urine and any other discharge will reduce in odour and hormones etc the older one will probably find it less interesting and/or tasty...?

Shiny floors are for disinfecting... So although most dogs hate them vets always should have them.

I saw the value of the flooring at my vet a few months ago when Abe cocked his leg and pissed all over the wall and the floor

    thanks Dhru,
i am hoping that the odour removed, will mean less cleaning required. I agree its like humping, not necessarily a sexual behaviour. More rank behaviour.

He's booked in for October, end of. Time to get em off. I had to hose down/disinfect dog pound, coz man it stinks in his corner, i was wretching, and as a nurse, that's saying something!
