    Default New foster pup question

So our foster pup arrived today. He's adorable of course and pretty good for a pup his age.

But Banjo keeps growling and snapping at him. When he comes near me or my daughter or near one of her toys. I'm conscious of the danger of punishing growling but I'm not sure how to tackle this. For now I move in between her and the pup with my back to her if she growls at him or take her toy away for a short time. Is that an appropriate response?

How does the puppy react to Banjo's growling and snapping?

He just backs off with his tail between his legs. But if course he wants to be close to us all the time. I will pick up a crate in a few days time, which may make things a bit easier to manage. Tough by then Banjo will probably have got over herself and made friends with him. She's fine with him on walks. I really think it's mainly resource guarding behaviour, with us being one of her most precious resources.
