Well with the number of dogs I have and the fine red iron rich bulldust and hair that ends up in their bedding, my dirty bedding is staying out of my washing machine. I can imagine that slimy red muddy slurry lodging in some crevice somewhere and rusting away.

I have 3 dogs machester. I use my washing machine, seperate cycle due to hair. My washing machine was 2nd hand when i got it, and ive had it for 4yrs, Never been a problem/broken down.

I have feather continental quilts on my human's beds. I wash all of those in my machine also. Never been a problem.

Bernie I have a few more than that LOL. The grit just from human socks etc is very abrasive and destroyed the rubber seal on my last washing machine, it lasted 4 years. Maybe different for a top loader. I actually vaccuum my dogs beds and shake out huge amounts of grit and dust when I take the covers off. It is just like that out here.
