I have to force myself to look at these things sean, they disturb me so much. My opinion of the human race is jaded at the best of times these days, and to think that there are those capable of these things only makes me want to move to the hills - far, far away from people...

I don't know Sean, but I can't look either. Too much for me.

Welcome to Geelong. You should see what I've had handed to me because they cant be bothered. I got two baby ferrets once as we rescue, they were literally crawling with fleas, every square cm of them. They were emaciated, total muscle loss and so dehydrated they couldnt hold their heads up.

So much lack of animal management and abuse down here, just can't keep up.

Poor little bugger. Hope she pulls through. So glad she was found - she can't have had much longer. Not even any muscle left on her. Once they use their body fat they use up muscle. Once that is gone their body starts to consume the energy contained in their own vital organs.

Interesting link at the bottom of the page to a story from March about a greyhound helping it's owner fend off a sex attacker, which was impressive - big thumbs up to that boy! But certainly sounds like Geelong has some lovely locals... Not!

The problem is when Geelong council conglomerated all the smaller municipalities into City of Greater Geelong. One council now spans a massive area, way too much to properly police certain things, animals in particular. We have only a handful of rangers, low budget and one pound for the entire region (GAWS which has to take dogs on councils behalf and hope they pay the invoice) We have only two main dog schools, and a handful of small private ones - mine being one of them. Dogs with problems have a limited opportunity to get fixed particularly because too, there are too many uneducated people charging next to nothing and calling themselves 'behaviorists'. Geelong is a whole world on it's own, in a lot of respects - including businesses, culture, problems etc. We live in a town where police now always wear stab vests due to the high incidence of drug abuse and violence.

There is also no need for a multiple animal permit if you're over 10 acres, so we had quite a few puppy farmers around here breeding some absolute crap. One guy was notorious for constantly being raided over exotics, over crowding etc but they kept letting him have animals. The useless dogs/pets were shot and burned or fed to the pigs. He's still breeding.
