Default american bully gets breed status as seprate from apbt - ukc

regardless of what you think of this XXXXXXL monstrosities they have been considered sufficiently different from their root stock the banned BSL apbt to be given their own breed designation in the terrier group as the american bully, ambull at least by the ukc.

only negative i see is the losers attracted to the banned apbt for the wrong reasons might now be able to start importing ambulls instead for the wrong reasons.

i think the offical split is a good thing as the standard disqualifies extremes like massive head, chests, bowed short front legs, poor breathing etc that have destroyed many akc bull breeds into just blatant animal abuse by breeding them as cripples from birth (and awarding the horrendous practice).

i am not into either breed but think this type of thinking is good and wish they extend to more mainstream working breeds like rotts dobes, herders so the obviously distinct work and show lines can be acknowledged for what are; completely different breeds in look and character stemming from a common ancestry, makes a lot of sense and will stop breeders misleading the uneducated public.

    others thoughts???

The German system requires their working dogs to prove their ability before they're allowed to be bred and registered with their kennel association. This especially applies to GSD and Rotties.

    I like this idea.

We should incorporate more than just gaiting and stacking and conformation into the breed standards for working dogs.

Eg this one just got SA State Champion in Agility Excellent.

And placed in some other events.

in theory the german system is great, the levels of corruption over last few decades tho have renederd it a broken system - it is nothing more than a money making scam these days for a lot of dogs and breeders, unfortunately the good dogs and breeders are under the same system unless you go into the straight working titles which still has credibility.

go look at some of the courage tests on youtube for sv dogs, it is truly embarrasing and sad for the dogs, and to make it more sickening the owners/breeders just laugh audibly at there own dogs failings like it is all a joke, which it is i guess.

the levels of extremes in the conformation hardly need discussing anymore these days as it is pretty widely accepted by the general public to be wrong, unethical and nothing to do with the actual breed standard. even my non-doggy neighbours have a high level of awareness of the issues, which is amazing if you think about it.

I think it is a fantastic thing , for the exact pro's you have already pointed out Mutt .
Even here in Oz it is a huge plus as hopefully some of the land whales here being registered as Amstaff will hop registries. Can only be a good thing I'm hoping.
