I let my bitches have their first heat cycle and then wait to 12 months old before I spey them. Not sure I could stand going through 2 heat cycles!

is it just me or is the rate time passes slowing down? i mean days seem like weeks. somebody call NASA i think the universal constant of gravitation has lost some power. bound to happen eventually it has been constant for a few billion years now.

Cant remember the exact details but I thought that time does slow down or speed up depending on how fast you are moving. I think the older one gets the faster time moves and anything unpleasant greatly decreases the flow of time.

Even more so when you have 2 in season at the same time... Kuro (Stud Dog) just goes berserk and all training goes out the window. It's non stop whining to get to the bitches !! Lucky I have a large well ventilated garage to keep the girls in when unsupervised.

You do not use products like Covinan for the first and second heat. It's even a warning from the manufacturer. It's a synthetic progesterone and can affect production of insulin and adrenal gland function. You need to let the dog mature in both body and hormone function before using products like this. I have used it on my older bitch and it has worked very well, but a developing bitch I never would.

Don't forget you can get those dog nappy thangs. Yes I realise they could be torn off easily but it may give you added time to rectify a situation if one accidentally starts to occur if your supervision is a bit lax for a short while. I would be looking at ways, crate or separation for that job though.
I went through a heat with Pretty just as her appointment to desex came around. Luckily Bandit was too young to be interested too much. I kept her separated though. Took some juggling. I knew there was a reason I only had males or older desexed given to me dogs before this, lol.

The 2 female littermates were done at 51/2 months. Was NOT going to go through that with them especially as I was ill at that time too and having treatment.

Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.
