Question Staffy and Boxer Food HELP!!!

What is the best food I should give my newly adopted 2 year old Staffy cross Boxer - Bella? We started on Pedigree dry food 1 small cup in the morning, 1/4 of a marrow bone during the day and some Pedigree wet food for dinner. But our lovely Bella has hideous Wind, so it must be the food we have her one. PLEASE help!

I second Reyzor. Go raw. I believe these breeds are renowned for being a bit "windy", so the raw diet should fix that.

Google Dr Tom Lonsdale in Bligh Park, Sydney. He has a nice, simple raw diet you can start with.

Look at some of the better quality dry foods(I don't consider pedigree to be a good quality dog food). That in combo with human grade beef mince and bones to keep her teeth clean and her jaw occupied is what I feed my 9 month old SBT. I also feed him some sardines occasionally to help keep his coat nice and shiny - plus he loves them.

We got our boxer at 4 months old and she'd been fed cheap bikkies, but was also an outside dog, so her wind probably wasn't a problem!

We feed her raw pet mince and I mix up Vets All Natural Complete Mix, a bit of coconut oil and sometimes a grated carrot.

To keep her teeth healthy and coat shiny I feed her the occasional chicken frame, chicken necks, brisket bones or a tin of sardines.

The dry food I feed her is Black Hawk bikkies, big 20kg bag for less than $100...

She has an amazing shiny coat, great teeth and in great nick at almost 2 years old

Look into Dr Bruces Vets All Natural - Natural Pet Products, Healthy Pets - Home. The wind will be from a lot of grains and poor quality food, PAL is one of the worst on the market. You also have a breed predisposed to bloat so constant gas build up in the intestines is a bad thing for the long term. For the change of diet add some natural yoghurt or the Vetafarm Probotic powder is awesome for helping regain digestion.

Gotta love their tooty little bums. Maybe a holistic food... grain free like Black Hawk. It really depends on how much time you want to spend preparing food etc. I don't have time or storage space for things like RAW. I feel my dogs mince and Advance dog biscuits plus plenty of meaty bones and marrow bones throughout the week. They aren't inside much any more though so I don't have to put up with the smelly bum.

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.

I like black hawk for my dog but it's not grain free...

    Rice and oats are grains...

Canned dog food - makes for mega farts. So does any food scraps with onions in. Onions are bad for dogs anyway.

i Reckon hideous wind is cool..i'm oftten competing against my goofs but Mojo wins every time. Its the poos i'd be looking at...sloppy or black aint good . If the poops are firm then thats gotta be good. But as Reyzor said...ditch the tinned food......whatever the brand its all crap food. If your buying marrow bones from the butcher the ask them about chicken necks or wing tips. I feed my guys half Blackhawk dry and half 'Scotty's natural dog rolls'......so far so good for us health wise but we just had to get used to the snooring and farting.

Absolutely agree that Pedigree, both dry and tinned, is not quality food. If a customer brings tins of that here I do not use them. Put the dogs straight onto ProPac or Earthborn and have never had an issue.
All nine of our dogs only get dry Earthborn or ProPac with the occasional turkey wing or neck. I prefer turkey because the dogs have to chew them to get them down. Chicken wings or necks are simply sucked down.
