    Default Best Treat Dispensing Toy

    Hi Guys,

What have you found to be the best treat dispensing toy, that takes work and time to get them out? I have a three year old border collie, that treat balls take him about 30 seconds to empty.

    Thanks

I have used Kong Toys and have added treats inside them and also peanut butter.

Our pup loses interest in the Kong toy pretty quick- someone on here mentioned that they use a milk bottle with a couple of holes cut in it. You could alter the number of holes to make it more difficult, and on the up side it's cheap to make.

    You need one of these

Dr. Sophia's MannersMinder - for training
    and one of these
    http://www.petland.com.au/prod598.htm for treats lol

However, not sure they import to Australia as the safety standards are different - worth asking though

if you look at petexpertise.com they have a number of treat dispensing toys. I am going to do an order with them soon and I know for a fact that they ship to Australia

I hear kongs are quite good. I bought a cheap $5 chew toy from dollars and cents (or whatever it is called) and it works just as well.

If you are looking for mental stimulation exercises, I actually hide my dogs dry food around the yard and it turns into a game as they try and "hunt" for it.

Apparently 15 mins of good mental stimulation like that is equivalent to a one hour walk.

I like your idear of hiding the dry food around the yard
i might try that. NJ has a kong he plays for ages with it but soon or later
that will get boring for him.
    thank you
    cheers

My girl loves her kong, but she also really gets into this twist and treat toy. I normally smear the insides with peanut butter, fill it with treats and with it turned fairly tight she works on it for ages. Only once have I found it completely undone.

    Busy Buddy Twist n Treat

I'd really like to get a buster cube for her to try but think I'll have to shop online to get her one as I can't find one locally. Anyone tried those?

We have a kong and leo for Ziggy and leo takes much longer for Ziggy to get the food out. But the best one we have is the holee molee Dog Toy Hol-ee Mol-ee Extreme Pet Wares Plus Pet Supplies
That ball is fantastic! Of course you need to put something in that is bigger than the holes and than it takes forever.

We have a Kong, a holee molee but i think Leos fav is the beanie ball (Like this one Everlasting Beanie Ball - Dog.com) I stuck 1/2 a carrot in it on Friday night and it lasted him till sat afternoon! But you can get the locking treats for them to, havent really bothered with those much, we just stuff ours with what ever I have handy (Carrot, dried liver, capsicum)
