    Default Fish hooks

Running Maggie down the beach as every morning. There were a couple of fishermen and she went left instead of right and got a hook embedded in her flank. The vet was great, the hook an old dirty one. Now a bit sore and on an antibiotics fora week... expensive walk that one.The upside is she loves ANYTHING delivered in peanut butter. I was also given probiotic powder, anything else she needs?

The weirdest part was the fisherman was furious and demanded he use his pliers to get his hook. Glad My forthright partner was with me ashe was clear that the line would be cut and the hook left for the vet to extract. Strange because the vet says it was a very old blunt hook with shrivelled bait on it and if she was a fish she wouldn't have gone near it!

Maggie is fine and running around as usual.

im an avid fisherman, dont catch anythign, jsut like to sit there, but i usually squash the barbs on my hooks, makes hooking fish easier, unless its game fishign, then the barbs stay on.......

if the fisherman tried to use pliers on my dogs, id have hooked him and then proceeded to use the pliers on him.

Ouch Farrview.....i feel her pain. It was a few months a go now but i had to push a fish hook right through to cut the barb off and back it out of my own arm.!!

Luckily i thought to film the whole process...

Heres the link if ya want to see a big sook in action. I wont put the vid up because as you can imagine i was in a bit of pain and every second word wasnt pretty.

I always used to take Jack with me when I went landbased fishing, until I got too sick of calling him away from other fishermen. My mate still took his .... until one day I went to cast and his dog grabbed hold of the piece of squid and hook and swallowed. All we could do was cut the line and off to the vet. $3k of surgery later the hook was no longer in her gut. ouch, never ever taking a dog fishing ever again.

LOL....i'm so paranoid about it Ven... I've worn them before but not past the barb that far. I've had some good laughs at mates bad luck so Karma just had to catch up !!

I've since taught the misses how to do it the easy way with some string....she wasnt keen to try it on the one in the video. Left me with no option but to force it through and cut it off.

If anyone wants to see how easy it is to get a hook out of a humand or animal watch this video. I would push down on the shank of the hook abit more than these guys did to make it even easier.
