Default Healing Vibes Needed for Chance Please....

Hey guys, I know he's not a dog, but our kitten, Chance is in the hospital. I feed him in the bathroom, coz otherwise he mows through his food and the other cats food too. When I went to let him out after his brekkie, he'd pooed in the basin, which is very out of character for him...

Well it was really sloppy with a huge amount of fresh blood in it. I took him to the vet straight away, and she has kept him in, he's being put on fluids, anti-biotics etc via drip, so it'll hit his system quicker, he has a fever too.

I don't have a very good gut feeling about it, so as many positive healing vibes his way can only help.

I'm off to buy new litter trays etc now, so the others don't pick up whatever he has.

    Thanks, Emma

Poor little man. Surrounding young Chance with healing light.

Being your cat I'm sure he's vaccinated. Does the Vet have any ideas?

Awww Emma I'm sorry to hear that, but I am sure the Vets are going to do everything they can for Chance. I am sending many many healing (and hugging) vibes his way. All the best, keep us posted.

He is vaccinated, and also a completely indoor cat. The vet was asking if he could have gotten into any rat bait or anything like that, but I don't use anything like that at all, not even sail bait in the yards.

She said it could be a couple of different things. She is testing for Giardia (sp?), and a few other stomach bugs. She's running some blood tests, and they are going to do some tests on his poo (I had to take it with me, and I tell ya, it was GROSS!!), as well as some urine tests etc... poor lil guy is gonna feel like a pin cushion by the time its all over. I'm just about to completely clean the house, I got some of their floor cleaner to mop the hard floors, I'll wash all the animals bedding in it, the cat bowls are in the dishwasher as we speak.

My other worry at the moment is Mia... She's only had one puppy needle, and I don't know if its something she can contract or not.

She's going to call me at about 4.30 to let me know his progress... I'm just hoping he'll be ok.

He's a stripey tabby, and his ears were bright pink, the vet thinks its likely thats from his fever...

Thanks for all the thoughts guys!!

Ok, the vet has just called. It's not good news unfortunately. His temperature has gone up further. It was 39 degrees when I had him at the vet, its now 40.4. His heart rate is way up, I think she said it was 240, it should be around the 160 mark. They have him on fluids and also anti-biotics, she wants to give him an anti-inflamitry, but cant coz he has diarroah (sp?)... she is about to put him on cooling packs and put a fan in front of him.

At this stage its looking like he'll need to go to the emergency vet overnight... Our vet is open till 8pm, they're going to keep taking his temp every hour, and she'll call me later on.
