When they went into him this morning, he'd chewed through his drip hose, so he now has his right front leg all bandaged up in a bright blue bandage, and a cone on his head... as if the poor lil bugger wasn't feeling sorry enough for himself...

Jarrah... I don't believe they have xrayed him... I think at this point they've only done the blood/urine/poo tests.

I am wondering if he has something stuck somewhere in his digestive system?

Awwwwwww about the elizabethan collar, cats hate them with a vengance, and they look so awful as well. Poor little thing.

Ok, we went and saw him tonight, his temp had come back down to 40.1.. so its dropped .6 of a degree within the day. They'd been trying to feed him chicken.. he'd been sniffing at it apparently but didn't eat it... I don't think he could get close enough with the collar and the bowl they used. I hand fed him small bits and he gobbled it up, which the vet said was a good sign.

My vet isn't working over the weekend, so I need to deal with a guy now. He seems nice enough. He said if Chance continues to improve as he has, he may be able to come home tomorrow!!!!! I'm not getting my hopes up too much though, in case he has to stay in longer.

I'll let you know more tomorrow

This sounds like Chance is getting better! When they are hungry is always a good sign Hope he improves further over night so that you can take him home tomorrow.
Do they know what he has?

    Ok, Chance is HOME!!

There has still been no sign of the diarrea. His temp went down to 39, believe it or not, once they took the drip out. Maybe part of the fluctuation towards the end was due to stress and not wanting to be there.

I have 5 different meds to give him, twice a day... and I've just done tonights, and believe me, he didn't enjoy it. But he's eating the boiled chicken I made him (have to keep him on a bland diet for a week or so), he's being VERY affectionate. Wanting pats, headbutting everything to make it his own again hehe... He's talking again... and seems MUCH happier in himself.

The vet wants to see him again Monday, just to check on him again, and told me if he starts to get unwell again, to take him right back to them or the emergency center (if after hours).

So $1000 and a tonne of worry later, we have our lil Alley Cat home with us again. He's got a shaved neck and leg, so he looks kinda funny... but I am sooooo relieved!!

Oh, and we are still awaiting the fecal results, which may shed some light on why he got so quick, or as the vet said, we may just never know! But for the time being, we still have absolutely no idea what caused it!
