Default Can anyone help guess this dog's breeds?

I got to look after this dog for a couple of weeks. She is about 18" high, lovely soft fine coat. She is about 6 years old.

Red cattle dog crossed with somthing...not to sure what though.

I bet she's a fast dog even for a 6 year old. This is the classic type of dog that gives me the most grief at work. They always try and sniper me from behind.

My guess is kelpie x GSD. It helps sometimes browsing the petrescue website to look at similar dogs and see what breeds they are listed at. Bearing in mind that often they are just guessing too.

Malinois cross. There's a few popping up all over the place as they're getting more popular. The photo of her sleeping on the couch is almost a spitting image of my bitch asleep in the same position. The coat markings and consistency are unique to the Malinois breed.

The big eyes and fine coat make me think there is some smooth terrier type way back in there somewhere - mini foxie / Tenterfield maybe.

My first thought was cattle dog too, but I do concur with Nek on the possibility of Mal in there.

Yes..... 'fine coat' is right....... her fur was actually lighter than air. Every now and then you would see a strand or two floating pas on an air current!

NSW and QLD will find Mal crosses a little more common. They are something that can be either great or a total disaster. I do Working Malinois Rescue down here in Vic and there is a bit of variation within the breed but there are some characteristics that make it definitely Malinois.

Working line GSD left, Malinois right

This is Scooby our rescue Malinois, is confirmed pedigree despite looking like a dingo x kangaroo lol

Rogue on the left, Scooby on the right - Rogue is still black mask with red/fawn she is not a sable, it's a black overlay that Belgians can have. Different to GSDs.
