Default How? how do they know?

Yesterday, we packed up ready to go camping. Bernie helped us every step of the way by stealing stuff and running off with it, getting increasingly silly and excited. Camping is one of his fave things.
All day, he's been herding us into garage, but we did not get in the ute, or get it out. Eventually, around 5pm, he settled down to his usual self.

This morning at 6.30, im up, he's ready, he's got his blanket dragged to the garage door, his toy is at the garage door, he's packed, and raring to go! He knows! Pohm is just bouncing around, has no idea what it is that's exciting her hubby, but happy to join in getting in the way.

Gonna give them a good run now, before setting off, just to confuse bernie a bit more (evil laugh) and settle him before we put our embarrassing GSD onto the ute, where he ashamedly, scream in excitement like a banshee for the first 30 mins of travel.

Dogs/reading/fishing/reading/dogs/fishing oh its gonna be so wonderfully chilled.
And for our first time, leaving a teen in the house alone for 48hrs. (dont think about it)
hope this teen is better behaved than my son was, who threw a massive rave at our place for me to come back to bless his cotton socks. Dispairing parent does not mix well with duff duff music!

Im hoping to get some good photos, and some great training in on the river retrieves.
    will upload photo's on return.

    Have a great w/e folks.

Aww, that is just so cute. Especially him packing his own blanket and toys.

My dogs - past and present - just jump in the car while I'm packing and refuse to get out.

    Have a lovely weekend!

    Well enjoy your trip.

My mums dog knows when she's going out - the minute she puts on lipstick.

Our Gordon knows when hubby is going out in the car, he always checks his pockets for keys, wallet, phone - that's her cue.

The Whippets know when they are going to a show, they are bathed the night before.

    Patterns.

We had a lovely time. Has been a less than pleasant week due to my teenage daughter being a teen, and great to just leave, albeit temporarily.
Here we are ready to set off. Bernie was run prior to getting in the ute, so only screamed for 5 minutes, then took to blow drying his hair in the breeze or snoozing for 1.5hr trip. Pohm just enters her usual unconscious state once the wheels turn.

They played and played in this water

Pohm fishing, she followed the fish under the water, then would pounce and miss...

the fishing with dogs..... er not such a great idea. We caught Pohm twice! But like a true retriever, brough that hook n lure back to us, to have it removed. Didnt flinch thankfully, got it in her lip once and into her thigh good n proper once.
Glad rotties dont have pain thresholds, the removal of fish hook from jowls is not nice.

Beautiful photos! And they are such gorgeous dogs, your two.

It makes me itch to go camping, but I won't be able to before January. When we will be officially homeless for a while, so we will have lots of opportunity to go camping then!
