    Default Is This Usual

I had jarrah desexed as soon as the vet said it was ok, I never wanted to breed her and as I have never owned a dog before puppies are a little daunting.

I have had 3 people ask me since then if she is available for breeding. One lady (who was a little miffed when I said she was desexed) wanted to know if both her parents had papers, and she was from a breeder why I wouldn't want to breed her.

All people who have apporached me have had huskys and all dogs have been male. I find this a little odd, and knowing nothing at all about breeding was wondering is this normal practice

Ive had this with the dog previous to Cappy. A guy drove up in a merc and asked if we would let him use the dog for breeding. He had been desexed the week before...irony...

It is probably because of your dogs colouring that they are interested.

ahhhhhh ok, all but one of the dogs was Black and white, the other was white. jarrah's mum was red and white and her dad Black and white. I have even been offered $1000 to buy her which I politely declined. Who the hells says to a random stranger would you sell me your dog for $1000.

it doesn't matter, you can breed different coloured huskies between each other, just as you can breed different colour poodles. even if for example both poodles are black occasionally there's odd colour puppy (brown, white, apricot) in a litter. It still gets papers and can be registered. They are not separate breeds.

Maybe you could politely let them know that Huskies unfortunately end up in pounds every week, and that you hardly want to add to the problem or the number of homeless huskies getting put down all the time...

Cute puppies yes. But Huskies often grow up into challenging dogs that can be hard to fence in... and people lose interest far to easily...

PS - I love Jarrah's colouring and beautiful eyes too, she's just gorgeous!! Give her a hug from me.

$1000???? Do people realise they are speaking about dogs that are pets.. not handbags? Sheesh.

They have dollar signs in their eyes thinking they could sell a litter of pups for nearly that each...

Exactly Nattylou, I agree with a lot of your posts, and this is no exception.
You can reply politely with 'oh there are some beautiful Husky pups in shelters and heaps and heaps of reputable breeders, im sure you'll find something you like without dragging Jarrah into it'

It's not just that (pugs are more than $1000 ) it's the fact they were wanting to buy someones beloved PET!!!
