Yuck! That's gross. I'd clean if it smelt that bad too! But the in-laws don't have that excuse, everything in my house is tidy and nice smelling, they're just nosy.

It's happened before.. We got Meika the same time as we were moving house and they were "helping" us (getting in our way) and I looked outside to find FIL on the spare block of land next door with Meika off-leash, we had only had her for a few hours, she had no recall or anything and no reason to hang around because she definitely wasn't 'attached' to us that quickly! I went off my rocker at him and his excuse was "she gave me a funny look and I knew it was because she wanted to poop but didn't want to do it in her own backyard, so I let her out". Idiot.

I sat my partner down last night and we had a conversation about what to do. He's adamant that his dad won't listen to anything we say and definitely won't ignore her if we tell him too. I just told him that his dad HAS to listen and it's his job to lay down the law because FIL definitely won't pay any attention to what I say (sexist pig). And we agreed that if worse comes to worse, we will just have to tell his dad that he can't visit until he does what we say.

Wish us luck! At least I have until Christmas to try and work out how to hide my frustrations and that urge to scream at him

You don't have to scream at him. Molly is doing it for you

Well we just had a man come and check that our Foxtel was installed correctly and he looked just like the FIL. Again Molly was great with him outside and then as soon as he came inside, the growling began.. not as bad as with FIL, there was no hackles up or barking but she was still growling, sort of quitetly under her breath. I explained to him that we haven't had her too long and she can be a bit funny with strangers so he just ignored her, and after a few minutes she went up to him, gave him a sniff while he still ignored her, then she came and stood next to me and the growling stopped!

I will use this as a 'tool' with the FIL when he comes to stay and hopefully he will listen to me a bit more if he knows that it's a method that has worked with her before.

Must be something about men who look like they're stuck in the 80's that she doesn't like!

    Fair enough! lol

Glad it was such a simple fix. Proves that it is FIL who needs training, not the dog.
