And not one bald patch fromt he dogs running on it immediately either

    The turf handled it.

Though we did have one occasion where barney manager to catch a corner of a roll and flipped it over, so the dirt side was up...we just flipped it back over LOL

There's a variety they market here for Canberra specifically. Can't remember what the main grass variety in it is now.

I realised that I'll probably have to get it dug and/or topped up with soil before I put the turf down. The yard is likely to be compacted clay when I move in. So I'll just have to try get the timing of that right so I can leave her outside when I go back to work after our move. Apart from the concerns about the carpet, I'd feel rather sad for her if I left her all day with just a patch of dirt.

Congratulations on getting your own home Beloz, must be exciting for you

Are you able to get an area brick-paved?? Here in Perth they do workshops at Bunnings and my friend learnt how to lay her own brick pavers when she bought her first house, you can usually pick paving bricks up free from Gumtree ads.

We don't have grass at our place, just brick pavers and raised garden beds with limestone blocks, planted with trees and there's lots of shade for Ruby under the patio.

Will you have a patio installed before you move in ?

My backyard will be very small (about 45 m2) so there's not much space for anything. I would've liked paving/paths and garden beds. But my daughter wants lawn and I think Banjo might too. lol

I'll have an undercover area under the roof - like another room but without outside walls.

Thing is, I'm paying rent whilst paying the mortgage so as soon as I get those keys we are moving. There will be very little time to do anything but unpack boxes before I go back to work. I thought laying turf could be the least labour-intensive solution.
