Default anybody used quarantine in melbourne

    hi,

we are emigrating to Melbourne and our flight is on the 3rd of november i am really excited. Toby is going to be in quarantine for 30 days. -i know he will be well looked after (well he better be. its costing us a fortune) But im worried what he will think about it. How he will cope. He is crate trained, so in theory should be ok with the travelling. im worried about how he will cope with being in kennels. He has been in kennels for a few nights when we went away for the weekend, but for 30 days? :/

Is there anyway i can find out what food they feed them so i can change him over before we get there? So he doesnt get ill. (i hope they do the food here in the UK awell.)

Any tips how i can make it better for Toby.

    Many thanks

Why don't you email them and ask. The Melbourne one is called Spotswood.

Contact AQIS - Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry

Make sure you put something in the subject line about bringing dog from UK - quarantine conditions

Given you're paying for his keep there, I imagine you'd get a say in what he gets to eat.

It would be tricky to change him over - because it would be hard to find a food that is made the same, ie the same brand of food in the UK and here - would still have different ingredients because most of our big corporate dog food brands are made in Australia using readily available Australian Ingredients. But you could ask AQIS (Ay-Kwiss) what they feed and post it here, or ask them to email you the ingredient list so you can find something that matches over there.
