Default grrr Tick Season is here ...

Found the first ever tick on Misha this morning - only a bush tick - but gave me a fright, especially as she slept on my bed last night, LOL !!

Yep....time to start the daily checks again. Touchwood, I havnt had a single tick on my dogs since we moved up to Bundy. The fleas here can be bad (comfortis took care of that though) but for some wierd reason we just dont get many ticks here at all. Even my vet says tick problems here are rare.

My old Lab back on the gold coast would get a few every week. Paralysed him twice. He was a tuff old bugger. I reckon he'd built up a bit of a immunity to them after a few years. As a kid i got a few on me....they give ya a hell of a headache after a while and a nice itchy lump for days.
    Little buggers they are.

My husband woke up last week with a tick embedded (lol) in his furry parts.
Dogs on the bed is not such a great idea in Qld.
A "shaming" is on the cards for Snoopy..

Yep we've been having them for a while now, 3 off the dogs tonight. Only tiny nymph stage but all paralysis. In a few months time when they get to the next stage things will be bad. So everyone will have to go into tick collars and have cedar oil spray on them.

Am i the only long haired double coated dog owner, that's never found a tick. I mean, come on man, id be at it for hours!

Far easier to treat and I dont need to try to look then.

    Snake season too folks!

Apparently the paralysis tick is only found on the east coast of Oz, so you should be OK in Melbourne Bernie?
