Thread: Another Rant

    Default Another Rant

I would love there to be legislation in place that before a puppy leaves its birth home, the breeder has to microchip every pup.

Someone dropped a lovely GSD in at the kennel this morning, found running around a major intersection just down the road from me.

Took the dog to the vet and it did not have a microchip and the collar tag seems to have been ripped off. Irresponsible breeders and owners need to be banned from owning any sort of animal.

Whilst I am ranting had a call this morning from someone who has a young bullmastiff girl. They are returfing the yard and need somewhere for her to stay for a week or two - no problems there, that is what I do.

But then this lady says "I Actually thinking I need to rehome her. She is so big and I feel guilty about leaving her by herself in the yard" - I felt like yelling down the line "THEN WHY THE F>>> DID YOU GET A DOG IN THE FIRST PLACE."

So Sean, interested in another giant pug?

I understand your frustration, at least they are looking for an alternative. The pup has to be better off with owners who will care for her properly.

Totally agree about the chipping mate.

I know it's only a idea at this stage mate, but i just spoke to the wife about her and got the OK so if she's serious about rehoming her i'd be more than interested. I just bought our first home so i dont have a lot of coin to buy a expensive dog straight away (as in i dont have a spare grand lying around)...but certainly have enough to own another one...if that makes sense...(we purchase food etc in bulk).
So if she's serious (and realistic) please let me know mate.

Registered breeders in NSW and VIC (don't know about other states) must microchip all puppies before they go to their new homes unless they produce a vet certificate stating the dog/breed is better of having it done later and have a reason for doing so.

I dont see why breeders wouldnt chip, I in future would like to get a pedigree BC train up and if it ticked all the boxes breed a litter, but I would be microchipping all before they would leave, no question, as if there not chipped :s slim chance to find, might lose them, Id be heart broken if I lost one of mine and they were not chipped.

My Maxi was microchipped before we got him...But the only thing is I just found out he is not on a national database only NSW companion animal. I didn't realize I had to put him on a national database, will be doing this ASAP

Oh that would be fab if you could get her Sean.

Yeah I have to microchip every pup before leaving
    As if I wouldn't but.
I also chip all kittens as well no doubt about that.
