    Is this widespread?
I would think the ribbon would be a magnet for people asking why they it is there.

Must be from the red ribbon in horses tails, to denote a horse that might kick on a ride.

I always take yellow as friendly, not "be wary of". As in tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree.....I would have thought red was better as in "alert'.

I have to admit I have not seen this. We do have "give us space" vests at our kennel club. people can just ask for them and wear them. they are reflective orange.

If it helps one dog, it is a great idea

This is such a fantastic idea. Going to share it on social media. Thank you for making me aware, I will stay away from any yellow clad doggies on our walks from here on out.

A friend of mine made a valid point when I posted it on Facebook... doggie poo bags in WA are yellow and people tie them around their lead... hmmmm

Our club uses coloured bandanas over the dog's collar.

I was admiring one from a safe distance and talking to the owner about it, and next thing I know her dog and mine are doing a very friendly happy greeting - that neither of us gave permission for.

Oops I say... her dog approached mine - apparently he will do that for dogs he likes and he likes mine.

    That is a great idea!
although i wouldn't trust that method out on walks... cause not everyone will know about it!
If i cant get Koda's aggression towards dogs under control i will most likely get a jacket for him that says "I need space" or "i don't like other dogs" or something along those lines for him to wear while on a walk!
