Default Burping in your face - why?

This is bernie. At point of eve where we all sit in lounge, Bernie will come place his head in my lap and stay there so i can play with his head n massage him. Its his routine.
But part of his routine is to burp in my face, almost like its 'at me'. Does it to other members of family too.

    Why? anyone know.

Both my dog and cat yawn in my face, even if they don't start their yawn in that direction, they will turn their heads so they do it right in front of my nose. Not the most pleasant thing they do. I have no idea why though.

yawning is a calming signal in dogs, you can do it back to settle your dogs.

It might be the patting or massaging that makes him burp, like a baby with wind.

Frosty curls up in front of my fan heater - so no heat escapes the heater - but to make up for it, she farts...

Actually I think I'm with newfsie on this one, a relaxed dog - farts and burps - and you know everything is working. I'd be more worried if dog couldn't do these things (potential bloat).

I just get farts too! Lol

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.
