    Default Stupid question thread.

Ok heres a few real dumbass questions for anyone who know's to answer........feel free to ask your own.

    1. I had a great pat/cuddle session with a GSD today, finally a real friendly one who wasnt sus on me......I was surprised by how thin he was under all that fur !!!
Are they a leanish sort of dog when healthy ????....at a guess he was nearly full height and about 40kgs.

    2. Are German Sheperds the exact same breed as a Alsatian ??

    3. Do women ever get over the fact that you forget thier birthdays ??? I only did it twice...her 21st and her 30th.......not bad i thought considering we've been together for .......well....ages.....i think it's like 16 years.... She just her 34th (or was it 35th?) and she remided me every day for nearly a month. Drove me mad !!!

Of course i could just google these answers and then pretend i know it......but i'd rather ask you guys

Well, funny you ask about the Alsation Sean, because I also thought that a german shepherd and an alsation were the same breed also...I just thought it was the pommy term...

As for the questions about the wife, you are totally barking up the wrong tree (haha like it?)...If my partner ever forgot my birthday, I would be so sad...I mean I don't particularly care for them much these days, but its th fact you remember it...

Alsatian was in when WWII is on and the word "German" was verboten.

So now that we've made friends with the Germans and are jeolous of their cars and kitchen appliances - they're "German Shepherds" again. Alsace is famous for great wine in an area that straddles France and Germany in the Rhine area. So not really sure if the dogs are German - a bit like poodles are not French and Aussie Shepherds are not Aussie (they're German). Sigh.

As for wife forgetting birthdays - it's a wife thing not a woman thing. cos last time I checked I'm female and I don't remember anyone's birthdays in time to do anything useful. My sister went on a silence retreat nun thing last birthday - so i couldn't catch up with her when I tried anyway. figures the one year I remember - probably cos I was at my mum's place...

Maybe put important dates into your phone and set multiple alarms ie the first one - for when to buy the present and book dinner somewhere nice, and the second one on the day - so you remember to hand it over. And during the year - remember to load up the calendar entry notes with things she says she wished she had...

    Phone alarms still work better.

Sometimes the dunny door is a good option - if it directly faces the dunny.

They hid my great grandmother in the war. She was of a Wendish tribe that was actually persecuted by the Germans. But she spoke with a thick German accent - despite being born in Oz. You gotta love the Barossa. Theres' still people who speak antique German there. Not so many Wendish speaker left tho here or in Germany.

anyway they all would have been put in detention camps if the wrong authorities had decided to get really anal about it.

They renamed a whole bunch of german towns, suburbs and pastries here. And then changed most of them back.
But I don't know the original name for a kitchener bun. Berliners came back (irony - french refugees to Berlin called Hugenouts (heeyoo guen ohs) were responsible for those) but lots of other stuff still has the not-german name.

I would think a GSD should be more than 40kg. Harley is around 33 at the moment. Mums is quite big and I reckon he would be around 50ish maybe? lol

Oooh and no you will never live down forgetting the birthdays... and milestone ones at that! Haha

LOL...I am the person who forgets Birthdays all the time, even my own. Not important to me at all. My Mum rang us on our 25th Anniversary and we had both forgotten.

As to the GSD....Many dogs are preferred underweight when they are working. There are some very active GSD's around now that are working. be it tracking, herding or trialling. Also some like to keep them lean to reduce problems with hips/back. My dogs are very lean under all their coat. many people are surprised as to how lean.....It is better for the large boned dogs. Some very energetic dogs just are lean, even if they are fed a lot. that is my Katy-bear. She eats the most and is the leanest. Some people tell me she is too lean when they touch her. She is happy.

My Dad, who was in the army during WW II always called our dogs Alsatians LOL, funny that........
