    Sean, you are welcome.

And from what you've just described, yep, I'd be pretty pissed too. That's very poor form, and yes, you should have been offered grief counselling as part of the Victims of Crime support - even though it's not a crime, nor did you commit one, there are ways and means for those who need it to get into the system and get help.

I'm glad you have a great realtionship with your local Sgt - see, there is some light in amongst all the darkness! Just focus on how good this bloke is, and try to put the others aside as an anomoly, not the norm.

Dealing with death is an eye-opener, and yes, it can and does literally haunt you. {{Hugs}} to you for what you saw, and now, what you have to remember.

You can rant all you like... that's what we're all here for - if folks don't like it, they can just read something else, or go watch the telly.

And like i said..the one or two times i deserved to be busted i copped it on the chin ...do the crime do the time as such...by the way it's only been one night in the drunk tank and speeding fines, nothing more nothing less,

What got me though was a few months back myself and a mate went on a fishing trip, way out in the bush.....way out.....and low and behold we stumble across a suicide victim. Wasnt pretty.....and the effort we both went to with reporting it and guiding the ambulance guys and the cops into the area was way beyond what most people would have been bothered with. It was a comedy of errors on the police services side and even the ambos where shaking thier head in disbelief. Ive never seen a dead person before and was shocked by the whole thing, still haunts me to this day.... though i can sleep for 8 hours straight these days without the nightmares......we got a pat on the back from the ambos......the cops treated us like murderers, even after we spent hours guiding them to the crime scene. It was a kick in the pants and as my mate said on our way home finally..."Sean, i'm not sure if i'd do the same thing again. I now know why people turn a blind eye to these things and dont get involved".
It was so obvious we didnt have anything to do with it........old mate even wrote a note explaining the whole thing.......the last thing the cops said was...."If you've touched him in any way we'll find your prints". I bit my tounge and we drove away.....never offered us counselling or any sort of ending to the matter.

But your right mate...thats behind me now.....time to man up.....chin up....move on and never put anyone through what that poor bloke did to himself, his family, my mate and myself.

Sorry for the rant and cheers for the best advice anyone has given me in a long time.
    Thanks Pinkest.

Ahhh bugger! Sorry to hear that Sean and Ruby roo. That really sucks guys.

I once witnessed a ram raid, drove till i found the first cop to which he radio'd it in then proceeded to defect the crap outta my car. I thought that was bad, nothing like what you guys have been through.

My father was a cop for about 12 years, he got out when I was ayoung kid, and I think he was pretty messed up...I remember my grandparents were minding our house and he drove over to see them about something (my cousin and I were in the car too, I was 8 and she was 9) and we waited in the car, we could see through the big glass windows, he was holding a rifle to their heads, i remember it as clear as day...Another time I was about 6 and my brother was about 5, my mum told me as an adult, my father had come home and held a rifle to her head..we did lots of cool things with him as kids, but it isnt until i got older, I realised how scary my old man must have been. I havent spoken to him for 7 years, not about any of that, but other reasons...but a death i have never had to endure, I can't explain how horrifying that would be to witness that.
