Default Pets 101 - designer breeds

They are talking about some popular crosses on this tonight

And I am impressed to see they are talking about hereditary diseases and that you wont get rid of things like hip dysplasia by crossing two breeds and you still need health tested parents!

    Well done to them!

I've watched that - is that the one on animal planet? They also have cats 101 which i like to watch also. It is a good programme - they warn future owners on excercise requirements, whether they are apartment dwellers or need lots of land... grooming requirements, food etc

    Yea its good.

They were talking about GR x poodles, and they even said "You wont always get the coat yu require"

Where they did fail a bit though, was they were talking about temperaments and personalities as if thats exactly what youll get.

But overall, I thought they did a fairly accurate and good job of giving facts about dds

I can really get into this..
I have spoken to several breeders with Dogues and they guarantee
for the life of the dog if it gets HD they will refund your money..
Good on them I guess but 2 dogs with perfect scores can still throw
puppies with HD..It's mother nature and all the health testing does really is
say YES I have done my best by health testing, but the rest is up to mother nature
or what you do with that dog while growing up...

Love those cats 101 or the dogs show...

Yes well done, but um these people never speak about complete muttlies and there health. Only purebreeds being x'ed, studies across 50 years have been done on the health of mutts and the results blow human interference out of the water. people breed dogs for traits for humans, now as in the past.
nature rules the beast, Humans have nothing in trying to control natures of other beasts let alone our own, for health reasons, be it goat, cow, dog or cat.
