It doesn't brand you as cruel or a failure. You got your desired outcome through a combination of negative effects for bad behaviour and reward for desired behaviour. You used a tool to help you, but that's fine - it would only be cruel of you to keep using it if it didn't work. She's now happy and quiet in front of the TV and you can sit and relax with her. Well done!

I had a toddler doing the same thing once.
We didnt have bark collars for kids back then.
so i wacked the sound right up, and put mute button on. and just when he was ramming his dummy into the video's posting slot, AGAIN!, (he'd killed 2 video players already doing this) i hit the white noise channel on full blast. Toddler didnt go near it for 2 yrs.

brutal i know. But very effective.

The toddler and the TV is a good tip...

I had a medicine crazy toddler, so one day she got a teaspoon of white vinegar and was told "see the medicine tastes yucky when your not really sick!"...To this day she will only take medicine when she is not faking sickness.

Forgot to add we are working on the TV barking, only thing he still barks when sound is muted or paused on animals or out of the ordinary humans. All good when seeing them in on walks.

The other night I woke to him going ape at some music vid with a of a chick dressed head to toe in white close up shot...The kiddlum and Maxi had fallen asleep whilst watching the V music show.
