Default Drug detection dogs. A former handler explains.

Forget the title and his silly hat, just hear him out. I thought it was very interesting since he used to be a police handler.
I've seen them work before at airports and music festivals and on TV and wondered why they whern't distracted by other smells. He goes onto explain why and how they work so well.
If you think he's full of it theres heaps of you tube videos about him so feel free to suss em out yourself. I'm not gunna discuss the drug issue with anyone, i just found the video very informative about how the dogs work by seperating smells and how a handler can deliberately make a dog false alert to drugs that arnt there.
    See whats ya's reckon.

I guess the detection dog people will have to start proofing for cats now.

And somebody is going to think they've got the Aussie dogs conned, and get stung by a quarantine dog instead (any plant or food).

I had a quarantine dog indicate for my bag - there had been a banana in it, which I had eaten but banana pongs enough for us to smell it, let alone a dog.

It's not that hard to proof for food, dead things, and cats.

But I wonder what would happen if you packed all the pot into tennis balls...

Lol...speaking of quarantine dogs ....i was watching a Beagle at Brisbane airport do his thing, sniffing everyones bag and i'm thinking "how cool, look at him go". The little bugger then promptly walked over to me, sniffed my bag and then sat right beside me !!! The old heart skipped a beat and EVERYONE looked at me. Turned out he smelt the baby formula for my new born son at the time. So you can imagine the looks when she pulls this container of whitish powder out of my bag !! The handler was fine about it and we where right to go. What a start to a nightmarish trip............Never travell with a 3 month old baby !!!! Just take my word for it....

Dogs noses are amazing things !!! The stew demo was clever i thought.....helped me understand anyway.

    Is this still PG13?

    Baby forumula...

I got away with packing a tub of gatorade. I was sensible enough to leave it in the original container though. Gotta rehydrate on those planes. And it's a good meal substitute if all the rest of the food is likely to be toxic.
