Thread: Good dog tag suggestions please?

  1. #1

Question Good dog tag suggestions please?

This is the second dog tag that Hooch had. I got both from ebay, made from "super strong" aluminium, engraved.
They both bent out of shape and one snapped at the hole.
I am looking for a pretty (bling preferred but not a must) dog tag where I can engrave our details in case Hooch gets lost (I am sure they will return him quick smart once he starts ruining their home probably with a law suit for damages lol).

Any advice/suggestion? you may show off your pretty dog collar in this thread

I'm sure you could get actual dog tags made and attach them to his collar.

I've been looking into them lately but haven't found anything I'm happy with.

We have the plastic ones.....I think three layers, with the writing coming up as white. These have lasted the longest so far.All the metal ones I had problems with. I cannto remeber the brand. Had to send away for them........

Funnily enough our Tailwaggers RSPCA Bequest tags (?brass) have lasted for up to 5 years on all our dogs so far.........
And you can still read all the numbers and info

I just got my dog tags from petbarn, they're only $10 and they engrave them on the spot for you. Both of ours have lasted so far I'm also pretty sure you can get custom made collars with your details stitched into them

Hi BG, my second tag has lasted ... I bought it at Karrinyup shopping Centre at the bootmaker/key cutter, and it has a stainless steel split ring (which is what came apart last time) it cost $25 and that included getting her name and both of our mobile numbers engraved on it - it was done in a really nice font ...

I can't work out how to copy a picture here but will go home and try and remember to take a photo, it's the one that's 30mm size, it's silver around the edge then coloured in red and has a silver heart in the middle... it's tonka tuff !!

Saw some really cool ones a while back that stated the dog was desexed in big letters as a deterant to thieves who think they can steal and breed purebreed dogs for big $$$$.
I thought that was a good idea. Cant seem to find them now. I think they where a U.K. thing though.
I've only ever had luck with heavy duty plastic ones. The council rego tags are bulletproof.

The flat ones that sit over the collar. If you get the ones with the gap in the loop they can be threaded over any webbing style collar and don't come off and don't rub or wear out.

Or you can go to somewhere that does embroidery and get the tag embroidered...

Just took a photo of the dog tag I bought for about $25 with engraving, stainless steel split ring is the go. It has survived well over 6 months, including lots of beach walks/swims, first one lasted less than a fortnight!

I saw these on Ebay and plan to buy two (for spares), they're $10 engraved total of $13 with postage and you can have "Microchipped", dog's name and contact numbers, they look good value.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. Findeb, I just saw these which are the same as yours I think. It says it comes with a life time warranty. Good for us I think. And only $18 including engraving.
    Thanks again all!
