Thread: Dog Forum Roll Call

  1. #1

    Default Dog Forum Roll Call

As car enthusiast and being members of car Forums, we do roll calls and monthly meet.
I think it is a great Idea to know fellow members around your area and possibly to have
    monthly meet as well.

I've been promoting DOG FORUM to other fellow dog owners (mostly to the local dog park
I go to). If you with me for a roll call and monthly meet, please post your location (note:
not your home address lol) and suggest a meet

    I'll kick start this thread.

From Sydney 2566 postcode - anyone around the same postcode I'm always at the RABY
dog park during weekends. I always try to go there from Friday to Sunday between 2pm
to 5pm and stay for 1 hour. I also try to socialize and meet other owners in the park. So
if you are in the area come say Hi! -

Also suggestion to Forum owner and moderators - hopefully there is a dogforum sticker or
shirt :-) if there's none available I can provide them for an affordable $$$ - hit me an email
    :-)

Organizing a meet, play dates, BBQ, training days and etc.... Please follow simple etiquette

    1. start with EOI - to set common date and place of interest
    2. Mind your dog at all times
    3. Bring a toy for your dog and to share
    4. POOP Bags if not available on site
    5. Bring a nice personality

I usually visit Tennyson Beach on Saturdays and Sundays - from about 8:30am. If there is a wind I like to walk into it, but it sort of depends on who else I meet up with there. I'm not there when there's dog competitons on that I'm entered or helping at. Am planning to go there on Wednesday too, but will try for earlier like 8am ish (means leaving by 7am from where I'm at).

We used to do this with a dark side meetup, but too many people wanted to stand around and chat and didn't pay attention to their dogs, didn't see them crapping etc. We also had a couple of resource guarders which didn't fit in too well when someone wanted to play ball with their dog... And a ball thief dog, that didn't fit in too well with the resource guarding ball chasers. So it got a bit ugly...

And we also had a lot of table/bbq raiders. which didn't go to well in the space we'd chosen. Is one reason I like the beach so much. There's heaps more space, no fences, everybody has to pay attention.

But the main thing is to remember - that just because we know each other online - doesn't mean our dogs are going to get along or that we don't have to ask first before we get the treats and toys out.

I think this would be awesome but unfortunately i live in Traralgon (Gippsland Victoria) And have no idea where the closest dog park is. There is an established 'Off-leash area' in traralgon But it isn't fenced in and i don't think many people really know about it.
No one loves you like your dog does.

Basically every weekday afternoon around 4pm i head to Riverdale Park, Meadowbrook (Logan/Brisbane area). On Saturdays i like to head to the spit (Gold coast) or Tamborine Mountain.

I'm also a member of Meetup.com and it has a dog lovers section and can update you on member meetup's with or without the dogs in your state & area. I'm actually heading to a meetup this Sunday in Colmslie with Molly. So we'll see how it goes... but yes definitely have to keep in mind that the dogs won't always like each other and to be honest i go for myself to meet like minded people, not really for the dogs because they couldn't care less as they are quite happy with just each other.
