CavQLD - Yes I found that disturbing the first time I heard of it. Most of the commercial dog foods here in Australia are produced overseas and shipped here, there are a few like VIP that have manufacturing plants here but many of the larger brands and companies are not. So that info is relevant to our country. For instance the company in that quote you just used "Menu's" Is the company that owns and manufacturers Eukanuba and yes that is the Eukanuba we can buy here.

I know that Diamonds had another massive recall this year and that included brands over here.
Mars has a huge factory here in Wodonga Victoria, they make all the pedigree canned food right here and some other brands like Chum, Dine and cat foods...They are high on cereals and such, but they do not add PTS dogs. They send the canned food from here to Asia, Japan, Korea and such.

I know a few people who have dogs I train, that work at this place and they know what goes in, they get dogs food really cheap and keep offering it to me. Smackos too and those green bone things by the tonne, because we were given them for the kennel Club .....Lots of stuff not that good for dogs, because of the food colouring and preservatives, like cereals and such, bonemeal from the abattoirs almost next door. Smelly place . I am not for Canned food, but I think it is unfair to throw the Australian made in with the USA made, they are different and they are made under different health and Hygiene laws.

Mars also make - in Australia - but it's not Australian Owned - Advance and Nutro Natural Choice, Pedigree and Whiskers.

The ingredient lists on the packs are different to their same brands manufactured in the USA. Probably because different fillers and meat meals are cheaper or easier to get in each location. Maize isn't a huge crop in Australia, but Wheat is. And we produce meat way cheaper than they do in the USA - it's all subsidised there which doesn't encourage efficient production.

Mars Petcare | Pedigree, Whiskas, Cesar, Nutro, Royal Canin, Banfield The Pet Hospital and More | Mars

Black Hawk Holistic is made in Victoria. I know people who are feeding their own dogs that, and they have also visited the factory - so I think they'd not support the product if BHH were lying about the ingredients.

There's a bunch of other brands I don't know but have smaller manufacturers.

Nestles make Supercoat and Purina 1 and a bunch of other foods. Pretty sure in Australia. And I'm fairly sure it wouldnt be worth the risk to their sales if they were sprung doing the wrong thing.

I'm sure the fertilizer companies take all unwanted protein. And some rubbish tips have furnaces for stuff like that too. Dead animals can be a health hazard for humans.

Yes, Supercoat is made in Australia. Not sure about the rest of the Purina range though.

Everyone beat me to it. I was going to recommend Blackhawk. Not only is it Australian made and owned but it is also holistic so doesn't have the excess grains, corn, preservatives, colours, added salt etc that the others do.

I do get blackhawk when i can, but the supermarket list is great for when you run out. I dont want to give the American companies a penny of my money if i can help it.

I dont support any industry or business that tests on animals in labs, and just the fact there business is animals and they do cruel testing is enough to me me ill.

A note on the over-flogged and promoted Black Hawk. When my dogs suffered constant skin and dental issues on it I found from asking publicly that this seems pretty common. My dogs eat just about anything and everything without an issue. But BH was disastrous for them.

There are quite a few in the cheaper but good range that are Australian made: Bonnie, Uncle Albers, Great Barko, Supercoat, Coprice etc.
