    Default Another Straggler.

I wake up this morning, and then as Mum's leaving for work I hear her yell out, 'Romeo's out!' I catch my boy, who, by the way, looked very annoyed that he couldn't get back into his paddock after discovering that there is ZERO good grass outside the paddock, so he cantered over to me so I could catch him LOL. Anyway, I am refilling his water trough, when I see an old dog hanging out by the float. He's wagging his tail and stuff, so I call him over, and he bounds up to me, and sits at my feet. I tell him to drop, and he does. He knows basic obedience, is actually pretty strong on it from what I can tell, which made it easy to get some photos of him for you. He is missing a large chunk of his left ear, which has an infection by the look of it. He is desexed, a beautiful tan colour and has alot of grey around his muzzle. Hasn't shown any signs of aggression what-so-ever. Hes pretty big, about the size of a labrador. Might actually be part lab or something. Hes just clambered up the stairs outside, and I've got the gates shut. Hes looking at me, begging me with his eyes to open the gate and let him inside. Oh, Bellas just smelled him, and now shes going bonkers cos an unfamilar dogs here. He's got a few scrapes, missing hair on his right foreleg, and on his back left leg. He actually looks like he's come off the back of a ute or something. The scrapes look oldish, but this is the first time I've seen him. He's wearing a check chain aswell. Should I tie him up, or just let him do what he likes? He isn't harrassing the chooks, or the horses, or the cats, so I don't think it will be a problem. He doesnt seem blind or deaf, so I don't think he is that old. He's in good nick aswell, so chances are whatevers happened, its pretty recent. What do people think I should do with this one? It's turning into a right menagerie at my place!

I'd call your city council and report him then take him into them or a vet as he may have a microchip. If he has a collar and basic obedience then someone obviously has spent time training him.

    Ditto what Amy said.

He needs a chance to be reunited with his owner and his wound attended to.

I rescued a dog off the Pacific Hwy some years back and I knocked on doors etc and after about an hour found he belonged to the mechanic at the local servo, who was also off frantically searching for the dog.

But if I couldn't have found the owner I would of contacted the local council.

Actually the wounds look old. The tip could be loss thru fly strike?? But it doesn't matter he needs a chance to find his owner.

He's a really nice boy, someone obviously loves him if they have put the money and time into him to get him desexed and training him...will take him into the vet on Friday when Romeo gets his teeth done.

Box you need to call your local council TODAY! and they will make you surrender him.

I know myself that when Bailey went missing the FIRST place I called was the council.

IMO It is very unfair to wait until friday to take him to the vet. He may not even have a microchip.

    Please ring your council NOW.

Okay, have just called Mum. Mum told me to tie him up and she will call the council because she didn't want me to do it. She will call me back with what they are going to do. I have tied him up downstairs with aa bowl of fresh water for him.

Council just came and took him away. The crazy thing just seemed overjoyed to have a man come and take him and put him in a big cage
Council man said there is a good chance he will have a microchip, seeing as he is desexed and trained. I hope he gets back to his owners ssoon, he is a really nice boy

I don't know about Boxerini's council, but when I had to sign over a stray (I should have a thread about it), they weren't allowed to tell me anything about him, not even if they found a home for him or if he was put down.
