Noone has broken any guidelines as far as I can tell, so I have opened the thread.

As far as crate training, it's the most humane thing to do for dogs which have always been inside.
If you banish them to the outside, they may get their noses out of joint, putting your child at risk.
I am pretty incapacitated with my pregnancy at the moment too, which means less walks for my dog, but other than her getting fat, she doesn't seem to mind laying in my room with me keeping me company

Been thinking as I read this.
Yep crates or in another room?
I have now resorted to a cat that the dogs (3 blue heelers) hate, being put in her own bedroom. Not as classy as it sounds but has her kitty litter food and water in the spare room.
Do you have a room you could maybe do this with the dogs and invest in earplugs till they settle in?

This cat is a window scrabbler and non stop yowler at windows to come in.
She used to sleep in bed with me and the dogs out in their pen but I wanted my cake and eat it too and have them all in.

it took about a week with a towel shoved under the door to stop it rattling with her scrabbling and now all is good.

A win win situation is always the best, so even though I do not use crates I feel it may be best for all in this situation. I have seen dogs that love them when they have been introduced to them properly. You do have a bit of time.

I could make them sleep in the en-suite which may work, Right now we have the cat litter in there which is amazingly foul, so i am building a cat run so he can do his poo/wee outside. right now the dogs are not aloud in there because they seem to like the cat poo especially the little one, its like a summer roll for them. haha.

thanks for the advice i may try another room, if there in the en suite they may not mind as much as i am right there near them.

Crates are not cruel. My dogs are crate trained, they willingly go in.
BUT you need to train the dog to accept and like them as their place to be. Throwing treats in etc

kitty litter is not foul if you clean it out often enough. Like twice a day is good. Once a week is disgusting. And the cat will start using other places.

Gukkk, I think all dogs think cat poo is the most wonderful delicacy.

    En suite could work.
Remember though that bathrooms are the coldest rooms. Maybe some carpet offcut and warm bed?
I have been known to put foil (shiny side down) under a carpet bit if any dogs needed to be in there. Dunno if that works but it sure as hell made me feel better.

Beg to differ. I am often guilty of not cleaning the tray often enough. Have had different cats inside for 30 years and never have they gone in other places if litter trained for inside.
