I would say as early as possible as well! We didn't get our guy into preschool until he was 10 weeks, and a few places knocked us back because they said he was too old. I found most preschools only wanted dogs between the ages of 8-12 weeks. Most of them just ask that the dog has had their first vaccination.

As early as possible. I got Milo mid December and literally all puppy schools were closed over the Christmas and New Years period. I settled for the one which opened first (I called about 10 places) and by then Milo was already 13 weeks - he is still sociable, loves every dog and person. Except he's submissive in nature - not something early entry in puppy school would make a difference.

I take my puppies from 8 weeks on. Some people do not agree with this. But I find socialisation the MOST important thing for my dogs. I will choose the environment and the dogs, with known history. Definitely not at the vets. I use our Kennel Club. I use dogs of all ages that I know and are well behaved and when I am lucky we have some same age puppies belonging to people i know, from healthy breeders and homes. I also use people of all ages, nationality and size. And noises and places.
I have done this for the past thirty years and I can honestly say, that I have had no issues with my dogs past or present. No anxiety, no aggression, friendly and happy dogs.
Sometimes you have to find your own "doggy friends"

You have to pick your environment.....just remember the unsafest place to take your puppy is the vets. If you think it out from a complete infection control point of view, that is where all the sick dogs go. And we still take them there.

There is a lot of hysteria surrounding dog vaccinations.

Like Newfie said pick your spot. Ie: Obedience schools require your dogs to be vaccinated so you can be pretty sure all dogs are vaccinated and shouldn't have to worry. I wouldn't be going to public parks ie: dog off leash parks or as Newfie said to vets where lots of sick dogs are etc. But controlled areas like obedience clubs, friends houses etc are fine.
