    Default Help Please!

    Hello all i'm new here,

i have a 9mth old german shepherd and have noticed some behavioural issues or traits. He has been to obedience training and spent a week with a reputable trainer.

    The problems:

    - He constantly licks and tries to nip.

    - He is quite dog aggressive ( all talk, would never hurt another dog)

    - Has to be the only one being patted, pushes in front of my other shepherd and gets extremely jealous when i pat the other dog.

    - He is full of beans, never stops running around.

    - He is a very smart dog and is quite obedient but the licking and nipping is getting too much, i want to stop it before it progresses into something much more dangerous.

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi

So he constantly is licking and trying to nip people? Its possible thats him wanting attention.
Dog aggressive? What do you mean by that? Barks and growls at other dogs?
How much exercise is he getting?

When did you stop going to obedience training?
Just off the info you've given, I think he needs more mental and physical stimulation, more dog socialisation, and needs to learn more manners.
I think you should go back to doggy school, but thats just from the smalll amount of information you've posted.
Im not much on dog training, but there are others on the forum that are

S: Hi there, was he aggressive before during and after the training? What did the trainer say?

S: Have you been given a program or steps to work on by your trainer or are you going back and or have you spoken to him or her about these problems?

This might be the best port of call as this person knows the dog.

I agree start by asking the trainer that already knows the dog but if he/she just is not helpful find another. A trainer should give you exercises to do at home to keep the training up. A sheperd of that age is MEANT to be full of beans & would need a lest daily walking & reg obedaince training.
