    Smile Schutzhund Assistance

    G'day

I have just started Schutzhund training and was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to assist me?

DVD's and books would be greatly appreciated but I am also after any other words of wisdom, webs sites etc... you can offer.

My reason for starting this type of obedience training came after I watched this video of a dog competing in an obedience trial. The dog is so attentive and unbelievably happy to work. Basically I want my do to be like that .

The protection work does not really interest me but the obedience and tracking really do.

Please reply or pm me if you can assist.

    Thanks
    Matthew

    Try Steve at K9pro.

Schutzhund training looks fantastic but some states (eg Vic) frown on it (legally). Don't know why. Well maybe because it looks dangerous. But I think that just comes from having NFI about the training and competition.

I am training my Rottie with my local schutzhund training club. We have only been doing it for about 3 months. It is quiet hard and very technical to get right. We train one on one with either a trainer or a helper.
My club sells dvds and books. You have to be part of the club to purchase them though. They are really great DVDs and it really helps to watch before doing a training session.
Are you a member of a schutzhund club??

Trust me there are no head starts. It is really hard and you will have to start from scratch. Just watch the dvds again and again. The techniques are tricky. I am teaching the position here. Here is not an action it is a position and has to be sitting straight right in front watching. After weeks my trainer is still helping me get it perfect!!
What dog do you have??? Photos please

I am sure you have already been on this site but you can buy dvd's from here. I recommend
IVAN BALABANOV – OBEDIENCE WITHOUT CONFLICT
    IVAN BALABANOV – THE GAME
    He is the best!!

Godfried Dildey DVDs are brilliant as well, so are the books.

There is a working dog forum calles specialist canines, you can join there too, its full of people that do the sport and train for security etc.

Other then that you have several very good people at your club to help you. Rest is up to you and your dog.
