hi guys first post here. i just got my staffy a week ago. he is 11 weeks old. i recently bought some treats called natures gift motivaters to teach him some stuff. the thing is my dog does go crasy over them so its hard for me to get his attention, after i give him one he heads off. if i use a ball he just keeps jumping all day long and cant teach him anything. is there any treats that most dogs like for training? i dont want to keep on buying till i know what he likes, but if thats only way to go i will. so need some help guys.
    thanks

Liver treats usually do the trick, and also GSDs4Ever has a great range of treats you can buy.. I recommend them.. Just click the link under her posts..

I am in the process of clicker training Pipi using Liver Treats.

I was given a sample of liver treats from Petstock, my three love them.

    Welcome to the forum.

GSD's treats are great and mine love them. Experiment with small pieces of sausage, roast chicken to find what he would work for. Some dogs are not food driven but will train for pats and praise, a game. Just a matter of trial and error till you find the key.

Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.

Tell him to sit and reward him with either a treat if you can or a pat.

YouTube - How to Teach Your Dog to Sit

I don't have sound on this laptop so I don't know what is being said but the actions look good.

alternatively youtube search for something else

I know that video is using food as reward not praise

A training treat should be small enough for them to eat in split second...not big chunks they can run off with.

Small pieces of liver treats are good...they sell liver treats at Coles and Woolies.
