On a side note, I was talking about selling the pen yesterday with OH as we won't need it too much longer. But then I thought we might as well keep it for when/if we get another puppy. OH then said we could use it as a play pen for our children too! Needless to say I told him in no uncertain terms what I thought of that idea!
No, I just had it as it was when you arrived. I can understand that! If you want to buy one I can highly recommend these: Dog Cage - 76x60x48 cm - Pet Travel - DealsDirect.com.au Australia these: Dog Cage 92cm x 60.7cm x 68 cm - Pet Travel - DealsDirect.com.au Australia or this one: Dog Home - Portable - Galvanised 74 x 56 x 63cm - Pet Travel - DealsDirect.com.au Australia

The third one is the one that I am using with Batty at the moment, more than enough room for Poppy in there!

On a side note if you guys do want to be rid of the pen, let me know! I could use something like that !

Yeh, but only in the bigger bathroom.

It NEVER happened in the ensuite and it doesn't happen when she is in her pen, even though she is outside in it. And I suspect thats why she held it at AGB's too...as she was in her pen.

I really feel the bathroom is a learnt behaviour type thing since she doesn't do it elsewhere.

    Does that make sense?

sure...if the bathroom is the issue...move her to the pen where there is no problem...not really rocket science in my opinion!

I was going to suggest setting an alarm aswell, but since Amy original thread was 'save our sleep' I thought it wouldnt go down well lol

Is there a reason she is so confined during the day? Is your yard not safe and secure?

My dogs are all asleep now, the back door is open three are in the kitchen, puppies included, one is on the outdoor setting chair, another is sunning itself on the grass and ones on the back verandah in the trampoline bed.

I think unless there is a really good reason for cooping them up they are better off roaming the back yard. That way they are tired of a night and sleep well in their crate (puppies), night run (big dogs).

To me it would be like spending my day locked in the bathroom.

With any dog that regresses with toilet training it's back to basics.

I am happy to do that. Do I slowly increase the time she is in there. Like week 1, get up at 2.30am. Week 2, 3.30am. Week 3 4.30am etc?

Is the third one the same size as Batty's? Perhaps the other two would be a better size for Pop's? As she won't grow as big as Batty will. Might go google how big Cav's grow as I have a general idea but measurments would be good to have!

Will let you know about the pen. I feel like she is still too little to just have the run of the whole backyard. We have left her in the yard a handful of times while we have just ducked out to do a few things and she is generally sitting at the door when we get back as she hears the garage door!

So could I use a crate instead with the same results though?

We were using vinegar but the whole house started to stink like it so we went back to just normal old floor sanitiser. Do you think that could have something to do with it?

Re the outside pen too, I would hang on to it. I would use it to pop kids into if I was outside with kids and dogs and had to run inside for something. Not silly you know, I did this. I knew all were safe then. Maybe it will have its uses in the future. (I also sat in it knitting to keep kids and dog away from the wool.)

My dogs are allowed to walk in and out as they feel like....makes toilet training much easier. It is only due to Ruby's desexing that they are not allowed to walk in and out at their own leisure.

Will bow out of this thread now guys...cheers

Yes, that would have a lot to do with it! If you don't like the vinegar smell - I mix it 1 part vinegar, 3 parts water in a spray bottle and let it air out and dry - use something like bio-zet. Anything else won't get rid of the ammonia scent or will add to it.

A crate Batty's size will be fine for her. Even if it is a bit big it's better than being too small IYKWIM. I don't think she'd soil in there personally.
