Default Dog Training Issues - Pls Help

    Any advice would be great!

I have been scrolling the internet for information to help me with my 2 dogs.

I will first give a little background.

I have not trained either of them in the past, i used to work full time and had an hour to an hour and a half travel each way to get to work. That is not an excuse i know...

Now we are suffering with all sorts of issues.

    1. Barking at everything and anything especially when visitors arrive or we have to leave the house.
    2. Jumping on everyone
    3. Not listening

I am no longer working full time, i have taken on caring for my mum who is dying from an aggressive brain tumor. I would say that my patience is frayed at the moment because it is so stressful. To make matters worse we have just moved to a new house and have already had one neighbour complain about the dogs. Now i am super stressed and i am sure that the dog are picking up on that but i still have to try to train them.

As i am not working my husband and i are down to one income and we cant really afford to have someone come in and professionally help us, this means that i have to try something on my own.

I have heard of clicker training but i dont really understand how this works. I know that it is rewarding the dog with a click and a treat for positive behaviour but what do i do when they are barking and being naughty? how do i get the barking to stop and also what happens during the rest of the day? do i just keep clicking and treating all day when they are quiet?

I know that dogs bark it's natural but it's the obsessive barking and the not listening that i cant seem to break.

I guess i just dont know where to start.

Before going into any details, others here can do it much more eloquently than I, but are they getting daily walks according to their breed requirements?

    What breed/s are they?

How often and how long are the dogs walked?

What kind of stimulation do they have?

    What breeds are they?
    How old are they?
Have they had ANY form of training?

No they are not. My husband is working such long hours and he is never at home (i guess someone has to earn the money). I am not able to leave my mum at home alone because as i said she has a brain tumor (very advanced & aggressive) and she has limited cognitive abilities. I only get respite once a week.

They are Cavalier King Charles spaniel and a Maltese Cav cross.

They are 4 and 5 and as i said they have not had any kind of training.

I play with them every morning and every afternoon. We play tug o war and ball.

No, they dont have a treadmill. I looked into it and the only one i can find is $1300.00 and money is just really tight at the moment (with only one person working)

The jumping...barking...not listening is done because they have no structure...no training...no nothing!

If you can not give them any exercise as in walking...I think you might have a problem.

Do you have any experience with training dogs?

I have the same problem with my dogs but I have 7 so the noise level can get unbearable but I also can't walk my dogs as I am a carer for my mum as well. I put our little dogs on the treadmill 2 at a time and walk them. Our jack russell loves to run on the treadmill and for other exercise I take them in the backyard each day and spend time with them throwing a ball, etc. I have tried clicker training but it never worked. We also have a dog with severe issues as her previous owner smoked marjuana and would blow the smoke in her face, the vet has said that it has mentally damaged her. She cannot learn a thing no matter how much it is repeated to her. I use a spray bottle now on stream and when they bark, jump up etc. they know they'll get squirted, it has helped with a couple of the dogs but not all. So if anyone does have ideas on training I would like to hear too.
