Default Cert in Dog Behaviour and Training Melbourne

Has anybody in here done the cert 3 in dog behaviour and training run by the National dog trainers federation?
It it run in melbourne (and i think they also do it in sydney), i am thinking about enrolling for the May course.

I guess I'm just looking for some insiders info and feedback about it... likes/dislikes, which electives you chose, finding employment afterward (if you did the course to pursuit a career in dog training). study load and how you managed it if you also worked full time?

You probably won't get into the May class at this point, they fill up pretty quickly. August may be easier to get into. Course is excellent, they do the practical at Wellington Park Kennels where our rescues go for boot camp

I done it, and would have been pissed off had I had paid for it myself.

I did mine in sydney, it was all over the place, there were t hings we were meant to cover and never did. We did the agility side of things and it was ****, waste of a day.

There is talk of Cert 4 coming out, and there is no way i will be doing it!!

I did it and enjoyed it.

I did part in Sydney and part in Melbourne.

I used to work at the sydney kennels where the course was run. They are in the process of building new kennels there and up the central coast so yes things are not as organised as Melbourne, having said that I can vouch for the qualifications of the lecturers in sydney. The proof is there in their own dogs let alone the problem dogs they take on.

I liked the detector dogs/drug dogs as an elective. I would often get to see snippets of the work Steve was doing, in particular termite dogs, fox task team etc so it was nice to go thru it from start to finish.

Since retiring I have set up my own training business while I look after the skids so yes having the qualifications to back 21 years in training has been good.

Thanks for the info! I was leaning towards the detector dog elective.
Now I just have to send the application in first thing monday and fingers crossed I get a spot.

I did the course and selected the kennel care ellective. But that was a while ago, would have loved to to companion dogs or scent detection but my dog got ill while doing the course.

Loved the course, now wish I had completed it... only had my complex skill outstanding... probably have to do the whole lot again now...
